Technically, two could come up and two go down but yes, the RFL have stated it is staying at 14 clubs and yet people still question it.

I think the RFL need to invest in some light aircraft to travel the distance of the M62, pulling along with them messages that the fans need reminding of like "14 teams". And a loud speaker in a vehicle going through the towns of the north shouting the rules like the muslim call to prayer. It's only by constant and intrusive reminders that we can know what is going on!

There is no documentation produced that says SL WILL remain at 14 clubs. If there were then that would be categorical.

Use of the term 'at this stage' suggests a state of flux. Nothing is fixed.

No 'at this stage' doesnt suggest a state of flux. It only suggests a state of flux to an idiot trying to push a nonsense agenda they no deep down there is no justification for.

'at this stage' suggests that unless something changes this is the plan, if something changes which warrants a re-evaluation of the plan we will do the only sensible thing and re-evaluate the situation. Im not sure why you would want them to do anything else. Im not sure why you want the to say the league is staying at 14 regardless of what happens and regardless of any changes which would mean a change in the size of the league would be clearly beneficial. It is a ridiculous standpoint.

No they ' Encouraged ' them , because having only one club in the Championship pass criteria after 3 years is a pretty poor endictement of how things are in the Championships , and it helps to pretend that we are having an ' application ' process rather than an ' elimination ' process

And if we still had (semi) automatic P&R, Fax still wouldn't know which competition they're playing in next year. Nor would a number of other clubs (at both championship and SL level). And of course, Halifax are not alone in not knowing which league they're playing in next year.

Not quite correct, stadium criteria has been round for a while, i forget which but one of Dewsbury or Hunslet werent admitted at our expense one year cos the stadium wasnt up to speed

That was around 98/99 IIRC. Has to be said however that even at that time there was no application process and the decision not to promote was made once it became clear who the champions were.

Bob McDermott was Dewsbury chairman at the time and couldn't afford a legal challenge to the ruling, think he was also chair of the APC which was the then umbrella body of the NFP clubs.
