Where am I wrong? There is a spat, a local one at that, between the UAE Union and the UAE league organisations over the use of the word Rugby. The Union lot, are a recognised and official sport of the UAE, the league lot are NOT. They are not registered with the overseeing body of sports in the UAE and as such, they are not operating within the laws/rules of the UAE.

The solution?

First up, the fraud allegations need to be put to bed, so somebody call Nissan and ask them what they thought they were sponsoring. If they say they knew it was the 13 man code, then no fraud has taken place.

Then register the game of Rugby League as a stand alone sport. If this involves someone at the RLEF jumping on a plane and sitting down with the GAYSW and explaining the difference between us and Union.......as it points out in the letter on the previous page, claiming the UAE are ranked 29th by the RLIF when the game isn't even abiding by the laws of the UAE is a little stupid.

So, I'm not wrong. Your opinion that I am morally wrong might hold some sway with the rabid minority on here, but as it stands the only form of Rugby registered as an officially recognised sport in the UAE is Union.......and no amount of righteous indignation from a small minority on here will change that.

Again, there is nothing on here of an official nature other than the letter explaining the stance of the Union lot that Rugby League is not recognised as a registered sport in the UAE with the sports governing body GAYSW. As such, a case of Fraud has been claimed.....and as I have said, the fastest way to determine guilt or innocence is to phone Nissan and bloody ask them. Then, the RLEF jump on a plane and explain that RL is a different sport, get it registered and bob's your aunties husband!

Something worth noting is that the head of the UAE touch rugby association (a non-Emirates citizen from New Zealand) is currently walking free with apparently no repercussions for his part in this. And in fact the UAE touch organization was recently endorsed on Twitter by the CEO of RU's international federation.

I also love how they've suddenly discovered that Sol Mokdad is an illegal immigrant after the RLIF and RLEF tried to get involved, and that this information was readily available and published by the UAE RU organization.

Ah..reading between the lines and filling in the blanks. I should have known that given there was no word from the RLIF or RLEF or even the IRB or whatever they call themselves, the rabid minority would fill in the missing pieces rather than read what is actually officially being declared.


The FACT is that the bloke who was arrested was arrested after a claim that he fraudulently obtained money by representing himself as the president of Rugby. I repeat....SOMEBODY CALL BLOODY NISSAN AND ASK THEM........shortest route to redemption and the truth there.....rather than trawling up past Union indiscretions.

Yes, because bureaucracy is transparent and adhering to the law in the UAE is all so clear cut.

There will be a story at the end of this, the very telling part is that the charges and claims all are being lead by the UAE RU. Not from NISSAN or instigated by the the local authority for sport.

Amazing how now the UAE RU lays claim to governance of the sports of touch and league days after this all blew up.

RL being played anywhere has NOTHING to do with any RU organisation. This is RU at it's worst and needs dealing with.

If it's so simple to sort out why don't the IRB get on the phone to UAERL and tell them that in no other part of the world does The NGB for RU also administer the RL competition.

It's that simple so why haven't they done it?
