common sense doesnt work here.
both clubs have too much ego
once one gets relegated and the other faces a similar track then theyll be forced to work together.

This questions been raised many times, it would mean IMO the end for these two clubs and the beggining of a single new club. I can't speak for Fev Rovers but i believe they are happy to stand alone, part of the make up in the Wakefield area is the rivalry between 3 clubs and that drives junior player development forward. Without the local rivalry i would fear for the areas youth and its ability to produce players.
So we Wakey will paddle along being Wakey and Cas/Fev will do the same, whatever that holds for us in the future.

| Quote ="RDM"But what you clearly failed to work out was that if TP had never been proposed by WMDC, Wakey would have continued to work on their original plans and would almost certainly have had planning permission granted (and probably started to build) by the time the successful franchise applications were announced in 2008.
Wakey cannot be blamed for the failures at WMDC and that's why the franchise wasn't taken off us when the Thornes Park proposal fell through. If the failure had been the fault of the club I'm sure that the RFL would have taken the franchise away from us to demonstrate that they were serious about it not being a closed shop.
'"
yeah lets blame someone else?
whose to blame for the decline in crowds?
the credit crunch which only applied in wakey, not cas.

| s**t crowds at wakey are the norm
even when they were shooting that film on the BBC "this portinglife" they used cardboard cutouts to make the crowd look bigger
hang on guys, get the cardboard cutouts out and use them to make it look like theres a crowd at Belle Vue these days too!

| Dally, seeing as you've convinced yourself that Wakey will miss out on a franchise in 2012 you really shouldn't have any problem accepting my earlier challenge.
You claim to be reluctant to accept it because other clubs may go bust between now & D-Day, but even if they did I'm sure you'd come up with plenty of other reasons why Wakey should still be kicked out.
You have nothing to lose (it's not as if many - if any - others feel you have any credibility anyway) so what's your real problem in accepting it? The only reason why you shouldn't accept the challenge is if you know deep down that you're wrong.
So which is it to be? Man or mouse?

Q. has DM ever even been to BV? and if so when?
wakey were also criticised for not having a plan B regarding stadium. they have now moved onto plan B.
also the club have offers to relocate temporarily to a suitable stadium if necessary.
The only thing which can cost wakey their SL spot is stadia and that will not be a problem

Yet you dont seem to be roundly critisizing Salford.Who it could be argued gained a place on the back of Barton development.Within weeks of gaining the franchise, the developer goes bust.
How convenient.
Yet you would have put Widnes in,who were in the early days of recovering from a financial mess, created by a "sugar daddy" .The same "sugar daddies"that you think clubs should have to gain a franchise. The same "sugar daddies"that created the unacceptable situation at Celtic.
You champion Salford as being able to "expand via Manchester" and use Sale Sharks as evidence this can work --- when Sale have no top flight competition around them.
You dont even know what positions teams finished in last season and you dont even know how you gain licensing points regarding attendances.
You dont have the balls to back up your comments and stand by them, otherwise you would accept the challenge from RDM.
There are more holes in your arguments than a sieve.
You are a fool of the highest order, who is made to look ridiculous with each passing comment you make.
You have zero credibility in the eyes of most posters, because you talk garbage and continually come out with incorrect facts.

And what major problems are these?
The funding is there, the developer is solvent - the only thing we don't have YET is the planning permission to allow the build to commence, but we're not expecting this until sometime in the summer anyway. In any case WMDC are supporting Wakey & Cas in their bids for new grounds (demonstrated both by public statements of support and through the provision of land to help secure funding).
The only stadium development that Wakey have "major problems" with is the one proposed in the franchise application - i.e. Thornes Park. Clearly this is not going ahead, but the concerns of the RFL at the time of granting the franchise was that there was no plan B.
Plan B is now clearly established and most people assessing the progress made by Salford, Wakey & Cas would say that Wakey probably have their noses slightly in front of the other two in terms of the "race" to completing the new stadia.
You MIGHT still be able to see a patch of grass that used to be a rugby pitch when you get round to visiting BV in 5 years time, but that will only be if the developer we've sold it to hasn't started to build on it by then. You definitely won't see Wakey playing there as we'll be hosting SL matches at Newmarket Lane from 2012.

| The only thing thats holding Trinity back is Belle Vue has done for years and it's Belle Vue that effects the crowds. Last year was a bad year for attendance for a number of reasons but we more than have the potentail to increase crowds. The new ground will help this and Wakefield is a CITY that can support the team both business and attendance wise we're lucky that we are not a small town team that has to look outside its area.
If we don't get the new ground then there will be no franchise and no Trinity fan will argue with that but with new ground at stanley looking good there's no reason for us not to get a franchise
TRINITY FOREVER

exactly, i believed youd get a new stadium
now the facts are out, with hindsight widnes shouldve been included and wakey excluded.
the RFL get another chance soon to fix this error.
if you think more promises on a new stadium next time will work with the RFL you are deluded.
theyve learned their lesson
one current SL club has to go to show franchising is an open system

| Why do people assume that Widnes will get into SL?
WHy do people assume that specific clubs will get kicked out of SL?
Since when has the RFL/SL ever been consistant in it's declarations/rulings/applications?
Remember "Framing the Future?"
All the SL clubs , as well as others stuck up 2 fingers and told the RFL to go away!!!
What chance of them being "consistant" this time round?

There's one answer to both questions.
The proposals for the new stadium detailed in the franchise application were enough to satisfy the RFL. It is not the fault or the club or the RFL that WMDC decided to shelve the proposals and therefore the club nor the RFL should be criticised for the fact that the proposals were accepted when franchises were awarded. Nobody "conned" anyone else (so we have nothing to be ashamed of) and whilst we are "in" now we know that we can't rely on BV as our home if we want to stay in SL.
I don't think anyone can seriously expect the progress that the club have made from having no ground for the future to having serious plans (with a developer & funding in place) to have been any quicker.
