| Quote ="{Hogan}"Exciting times to be a Wigan fan.
I agree with some comments above that i personally dont think Wigan will win anything this season, it has been shown over the last few weeks with games against Saints & Wire where we have come up short!
But from the state that we where in last season, i am more than pleased with the progress.
Next year we should be the real deal. MM was always going to use his Melbourne connections and why not? We have brought over 3 great players that will not only improve Wigan, but they are also major signing for the game in the UK, Three proven NRL players at the ages of 28/26/27. Not our usual signings in the 30+ region.'"
I think it's quite positive for the game here tbh - bringing in quality players in there prime should be applauded not jeered (not 100% sure on Finch though). The issue for me is when clubs bring over past it players or those who simply arnt good enough for the NRL but take up squad places
Well done Wigan

| Wigan will bring in these 3 overseas players and release at least 4 in Phelps, Bailey, Feka and Riddell. I wouldn't be suprsied to see Pryce released aswell with 2 guys in Charnley and Marsh moving up the pecking order. I also get the feeling we may release one of Prescott or O'Carroll so that we can get guys like Ben Davies and a bulked up Mossop more gametime at prop.
We'll have one less overseas player at Wigan next year then this and it could be even more with Carmont off contract and the odd rumour flying around that Amos Roberts may leave.

I heard a rumour. Ssshsshh, keep it quiet, it's ultra, ultra, ultra top secret. Possibly Michael Shenton and get this, also Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook.
But it's ultra top secret and [ino one[/i on here knows about it bar me. So keep it ultra quiet.

Good to see Wigan working hard to keep their youngsters in Super League. No really
Why sign wasters like Riddell, Carmont, Feka, Bailey, Finch and Lima when you've got a goldmine just beneath the surface? Put some faith in them FFS.
Thornley, Marsh, Davies and Charnley should all be in the 17 for Wigan next season. How many will be? 0?

You really don't have a clue do you? Thornley is out of contract at the end of the year and the total value that Sale have offered him roughly 70k. Would you pay someone that sort of money who hasn't played 1st grade yet? I suspect Marsh and Charnley will both get more games next year as Carmont leaves at the end of next year.
And IMO neither of the 4 you have mentioned should be in unless injuries occur, I wonder what will happen to the likes of Lomax, Dean etc... when you have a fully fit squad next year? Will you be saying the same that they should still be in the Saints 17? Doubt it.

| Thornley was offered a decent contract by Wigan over 2 months ago. He stalled on signing it and has taken a considerable offer from RU. Hardly Wigans fault. Are you suggesting we start throwing over 60K a year at 18 year olds who havn't played one first team game?

You happily spend three times that on NRL players with no heart, so why not?

So now you're going back a few years. I was talking about the current Wigan squad. I wont bother arguing and let you carry on the myth that only Wigan have ever signed ex-NRL players who are vastly overrated and here for a pay-day.
The original arguement was made against the current management of Wigan RL and not against the Maurice Lindsay managed Wigan RL. And the current state of youth development and progression into the Wigan first team is very good indeed.

| People complaining about these signings ousting young Wigan players should maybe take a look at who they are replacing; so just in case you've missed it:
Lima - Feka
Hoffman - Bailey
Finch - Riddell (and possibly Phelps).
Tell me how many young Wigan players you can count in that list?

David Vaealiki - Worth the 3 years of pain for 2 incidents: Rounding Doorstop Wellens with ease and taking Barrett's spectacular miss pass to make the break from which we got our first try in the famous playoff comeback at Bradford.

And the most suspended player in NRL history according to the BBC! Not sure how happy I'd be with this signing if I was a Hudds fan.

he has missed 29 games in 10 years through suspension.
An average of 2.9 games a season.
I could live with him missing 2.9 games a season.
We have a world cup winner in david fa'alogo who will have missed at least 18 games this season with his rubber hamstrings now that was a waste this year.

Just really bad judgement from Wigan when we realised that Gasnier wasnt coming.
I spoke to the clubs physio at the time before DV arrived and he basically told me that Vaialiki couldnt run distances due to the injury he picked up at Paramatta.
Big gamble that didnt pay off.

Obviously you've forgotten Doc Murray.
I dont think Vaealiki was actually all that bad, he just wasn't worth what we ended up paying him. Why couldn't we have let Saints beat us to him?
