The Salford away turnout is pityful at the Stoop tonight

As is the home support too I imagine

The whole turnout looks pitiful to be fair...

because i imagine the two events were timed to coincide and they probably flew over with the toulouse first team. it was a large group of young french lads, mostly all wearing identical team hoodies and pants with the toulouse crest on. no doubt going to the game was the logical thing to do, with their older counterparts playing and them being around anyway. no doubt it was planned as part of the trip. its not like 100 average toulouse fans decided to hop over to widnes for the game.

This is a comical thread. Everyone acknowledges that Harlequins' crowds are awful yet still come on to post their shock and disgust about the latest crowd figure. It's not going to change anytime soon (sadly) but i guarantee they'll get another licence.
It's like recognising that Dawn French has a fondness for chocolate then ringing your mum each time she's on telly and saying 'Ooh, isn't she fat!'

A sub 2,000 crowd. In a city where allegedly 3 MILLION kids are playing the game at some level.

A sub-2000 attendance reaches a whole new level of turdness.

There were plenty of red shirts alongside the home supporters if you'd looked properly



But yes a poorly performing team took not many supporters down to london. What a shock.

As long as the RFL place emphasis on crowds as part of the licensing process, then it's going to get brought up. It's sad really, but the majority of threads on here aren't about the game on the pitch these days.

SL can afford the luxury , the Championship cannot

The cost of having them in either league will be essentially the same , but if you consider the amount of sponsorship and SKY money in SL to be around 20 million a year compared to just over 1 million central funding in the Championship, then percentage wise it is just a no brainer , the money used to ferry players and coaching staff over the channel could fully finance one brand new British Championship club , it is madness really , they have been brought in to ' sex up ' the Championship , it hasn't worked

Harlequins rock my world, im amazed they manage to pull in only slightly less than salford do at home

given that they have to compete for millions of effetesoccorball and rugby union fans..........hang on, Man City, Man Utd, Sale sharks. wow! quins do have a lot in common with them


im amazed i dont hear quins using the salford 'everyone likes football and UTD were playing' defence more often as they dont mind using the Salford 'look at that huge potential market' ploy when it suits

and yes, i have indulged in a bit of shameless trolling. just to see how it feels. i would like to point out i have no particular problem with either team.

What I still don't understand is how The Stoop can be rammed full for Union... yet struggle for League... people down there really will watch anything.

Its because Harlequins are a famous name in the world of RU, have a big supporter base and unlike the league side that bears the same name they do occassionally win games.

why do people despair at the quins attendance? At the end of the day they are going to be in super league next year. We should want a London RL club doing well, the attendances have been poor for years, that is not the clubs fault. I'm sure they have tried to attract more fans. However, I will always want RL to succeed in London and think the people who are not following quins rl are idiots because they are missing out on a great spectacle which is RL. I may be in the minority but I prefer a trip to London to watch quins v wigan because of the london talent on stage than going to wigan vs leigh. We need to stick with London and hopefully the crowds will come, if they don't crowds ain't everything.

The Leigh talent is fine... if your into birds with tashes and tattoos.
