If Perth get in we will need 25 top grade players. I can see alot of players heading this way from SL, an increased salary cap, better exchange rate and amazing place to live will all be drawcards. I can see 30 odd players leaving the SL in 2013, I hope you have plans to fill the gaps!

I hope your right. Personally I cant see clubs like Hull KR and Salford ever getting to a reasonable number of British players in their 17 unless its forced upon them

Let's face it.....Justin Morgan has built a squad for 2001 that he thinks is the best he can put together. Regardless of the rules that were agreed by the chairmen, HKA have 10 overseas players on their books because it is the coaches belief that these players will give them a better chance of glory in 2011 than if they only had 5 with and replaced the others with UK talent.
If 4th place and a decent cup run is what you think represents a decent season, then let's hope JM and the HKA Board don'y agree with you. In 12 months time, how many overseas players will we be discussing in a similar thread? It's hardly building for the future is it......the future of HKA or the game in the UK.

Which is understandable, look at a club (sorry, Experiment) like Fulcrubronquins - a team full of English kids gets you nowhere, you need experienced players to help them along. But, if you've an Experiment with no fans then you can't afford experience, whereas if you're a real club with real fans then you can, and can be a much better and more progressive team & club. Simples.

A team full of average Aussies get you nowhere either. It's obvious a balance of promising youth and top class experienced senior players gets you to the top, something which Quins only have half of and Hull KR the other.

Hull KR are a club built on short-sightedness, not just in their views on the playing squad but also their views on finance and how they generally run the club.

That's fair comment, all I meant was that Rovers are a much better team then Fulcrubronquins are, despite only been in SL a fraction of the time that Fulcrubronquins have, + IMO have a lot more going for us as a club, so the knocks are daft really.

See where we are in 3 years time re our youth policy + first team.

Considering we are about to enter our fifth successive SL season after been the bookies' favs to go straight back down in 2007 I'd say that's very unfair. Name one club that came up into SL and immediately fielded a team full of English lads (and didn't go straight back down!).

Hull KR have been a fine addition to SL, very well run club

whilst not as big as their neighbours they sure run a much better football department from the coach to the imports

you'd better notify the RFL quickly then as they seem to disagree with you!

how often have we beaten the aussies on the international stage?? Not often ever and never on a consistent basis. years ago, we had very few aussies/tongans etc over here (certainly a lot less than now) but still failed to beat them on a regular basis, suppose thats rovers fault too!!

Theres plenty more English players then there is Newzealenders yet they still manage to do pretty well. The fact is more quantity doesnt mean better quality. So more youngsters given a chance by not bringing 9 Aussies over for HKR wouldnt make the slightest difference.
Not talking into account Liam Watts could make a great English player in the next few years - which i have no doubt Big W and the likes will make him a better player.

Looking at this as a RL fan.....I'm looking forward to seeing Mason in SL this season.

Same here, it's the players like Fisher, Lovegrove, Clinton, Webster and Green that make them a laughing stock.

Not at all. When Rovers announced his signing I felt we'd missed out to be honest. We'd seen what he did at Catalans and Wigan and know he's a decent player, plus he's still in his early 20's. No problem what so ever with players like Dobson over here. Vella, Galea and Newton too.

I don't see much difference between Green and Dobson, both young, both struggling to hold down a NRL starting position. Fisher and Lovegrove (neither bad players by the way and would start at majority of SL clubs) I do agree we could replace with English players if we looked hard enough or poached from another SL club. We have a young English 9 who hopefully will take over from Fisher in the not too distant future.

Out of our overseas players I would suggest only Fisher and Lovegrove you would class as avg the rest you would have to spend alot of money finding an english replacement or wait for a youngster of equal calibre to come through, which Wigan have shown isn't always possible even with a very good jnr set up.
