| Quote ="littlerich"It all depends what happens at Wrexham. If that goes the same way as Celtic did then they'll be out. So that's one. If that ship steadies then i can see them throwing out one of two clubs - Salford or Wakefield. Why throw any out? Well Pepe, you know the answer to that - because Widnes are streets ahead of the pair of them and i can't see that changing over the next 18 months.'"
Other than ground which will be rectfied, in what other areas are Widnes streets ahead ?

Can i stop you there. When? In 2012? No? Then you'll be behind Widnes and don't bother giving me a link to some pretty pictures and plans of stadiums - i've seen 'em all love. I've been to Widnes though, and it's an actual stadium - all complete with seats, bars and all that stuff which you would associate with a completed stadium.
What else have Widnes got? Considering they're in the a[irs[/ie end league of the game they're doing well with their youth set up, finances, attendances (which is no mean feat in this league) and on the playing front.
I'm not a Widnes fan either, You wouldn't think so would you?

You've opened up a can of worms now, Rich.
I can see which way this thread is heading, so I’ll go and dig out my trusty old tin hat.
You’ve certainly come a long way from your ‘I hate Widnes’ posts.

I've no axe to grind with Widnes or Widnes supporters. It just annoys me that many posters on here automatically assume my team will be the ones kicked out and most of them quote 'the stadium' as being the reason and when pressed can't give any sound reasons other than that.
Assuming that Wakefield start building a new ground I'm sure that crowds will increase, the Academy set up is going well, the Community department is possibly the best in SL. S there should be no reason to give Wakefield the chop. If the ground doesn't happen and we get the chop then the club has only themselves to blame.
As for Widnes, you'll always be dragged into the argument as your'e the best club (not neccessarily team) in the CC and were shafted by SL and deserve to be in SL. I just don't think it should be at the expense of my team.
Cheers.

| the thing that gets me is wakey fans arent even apologetic for all the things thatve gone wrong in the club since the last franchises were awarded.
its all give us another chance, well fix it next time
the RFL has to show the whole of RL (SL and outside it) that clubs can still get relegated from the top level.
wakey simply cant fix things in 12 - 18 months that havent been fixed in 10 or even 100 years.
the best they can hope for his crusaders failing, or salfords ground going belly up
even if crusaders do fail, all i think is toulose would get that spot and wakey still replaced with widnes

Why should we apologise for Wakefield COUNCIL choosing not to proceded with the plans they had asked us to be part of?
Before the Thornes Park proposal was on the table, Trinity had identified a site for a new stadium and were starting to make progress towards that. WMDC then asked us to shelve those plans so we could be key tenants in the sports village they wanted to create at Thornes Park.
Clearly there was going to be less of a financial burden on the club to pursue the council's plan, so we agreed.
A couple of years later WMDC decided that that the economic downturn (and a fair degree of local opposition) meant they would not be able to proceed with the Thornes Park proposal, leaving Trinity well & truly up the creek without a paddle in terms of the requirement for a new stadium (franchise issues aside, Belle Vue had been sold during this time!).
In a little less than 18 months, Trinity have been able to pick themselves up from the severe blow dealt out by WMDC re Thornes Park, found a developer they can work with, identified a site with the developer and are now finalising plans before an application for plannign permission has been approved. In that same period of time, Salford have seen the developer they are working with go bust and Cas have made no significant progress at Glasshoughton (though some claim moving a bit of mud from one side of the site to another is evidence of construction).
So having considered the reality of Trinity's position over the last few years (before you even consider the handouts they HAVEN'T had from the RFL that other clubs in SL have) rather than your uninformed & ignorant rantings to date, do you really still believe that Trinity are the one who bear the greatest burden of responsibility for the lack of a new stadium?

I have not seen the interview you are referring to but this BBC interview with Richard Lewis news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 363171.stm on 4m 50 seconds he clearly states a place is "guaranteed" for a Championship club. He also admits that some clubs in SL will be concerned and that there can be no more excuses.

The RFL will not look at the last 100 years but the quality of the applications.
New ground - tick
Play-off finish - tick
Youth development - tick
12,000 capacity - tick
40 per cent capacity - tick
No salary cap breaches - tick
Good community department - tick
There are maybe even one or two more that we tick, but I can't remember them all
The problem with your arguments, dally, is that you don't know what you're talking about. Wakey fans know the score, and we don't need your genius to work it out. New ground = new franchise. Belle Vue = no franchise. What you know nothing of is what is going on in Wakefield in relation to the proposed new ground. The people who do are very optimistic, and we will probably be in before Cas and Salford. It won't be hot air, but bricks and mortar.

the only way you get a tick on 40% is cause BV is falling to bits and the capacity is so low.

the RFL did guarantee it though whether by expansion or relegation time will tell.
if its expansion then it makes much more sense for 2 teams not one to eliminate the bye

because without the thornes park proposal you wouldnt be in SL now.
your club used it to con the RFL out of a place for a more deserving SL club
very soon after your franchise was granted it was announced council werent proceeding.
how convenient.

| Why can't Wakefield and Castleford just share a stadium they are both in the same council brough an ideal solution would be to build it in Normanton between Wakefield and Castleford.
