All of them!
I'd rather see a bunch of young Poms giving it a go and knowing they are not up to it than the same old losers trotted out and wondering why the result never changes.
I mean honestly, should Paul Wellens have THAT many test caps?

tbf Inglis and Folau couldnt do a job on him in 2008.
Id rather see Myler or Eastmond given a crack anyway.
Eastmond will turn out the player Burrow wants to be, much better prospect.

Wellens should be finished at international level after how he did at the World Cup. This tournament should be the start of looking towards the next world cup so the likes of Atkins, Shenton, Fox and Westerman should be given more England experience.

| Give some of the young ones a chance, Owen at Full Back, Tomkins at Stand Off and Eastmond on the bench. They would come back in superleague as better players for the experience.

You don't match us in the forwards. What are you, stupid!
And your backs, they would be flat out making NRL squads.....or the Kiwi's squad.....or the Tongan and Samoan squad!

I was referring to the game at Elland road where Burrow handed Folau his ass back to him on the way out.
Still, Myler at 7 for me this year.

WTF!
You know, if you have made up some supposed thing Burrow did against Folau, fine. Picked him based on that!

| What concerns me more than the make up of the sides is the different interpretation of the rules in the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
Our play of the ball was very fast (a bit too quick for my liking) but we just could not adapt fast enough to the lay on marathon of the world cup.
The Aussies realised that a faster play of the ball makes for a better game so post world cup they speed up play.
What lessons do we learn? Turn RL into WWF.
I just hope the forthcoming 4 nations is not a refereeing farce.

| Yes because we are playing by SUCH different rules.
Look, you turned up for the World Cup and realized that your tackling was ineffective, your couldn't read and attack, your positional play in defense was a disaster and you don't know how to structure an attacking set of six.
Being the idiots that you are, you look at one game (Aus thrashing Eng), realised that when Australia tackled you the play the balls were slow, so you decided that maybe the reason Australia was good was being the play the balls were slow.
So you went back home and decided to allow tackled players in SL to be held down for an age before playing the ball.
Then you looked at the NRL again and saw there were two refs and the game seemed faster. You decided that was because Aussies had seen the SL light and that they wanted faster more exciting play.
The fact is the second ref was brought in to get rid of that extra 5% of work being done in the ruck, illegal play, and anything that come from that was a bonus.
Still, now that you had allowed every tackle in SL to take ten minutes, you got a bit upset, but didnt change things anyway.
Look, you can come back and whinge about the refs, whinge about where the games are played, hell, you can whinge about the height the grass is cut.
But only do that when you, ya know, learn the VERY BASICS of this game.
Your very best players are so totally off the pace and so totally out of their depth against top class opposition that the little differences you whinge about right now are not worth thinking about.

Indeed.
That is why Gareth Ellis has just scooped the player of the year award for Wests Tigers.

| ahh but he's coached in the aussie system.
LF was exaggerating to an extent but it's true.
From a genetic level most of their players are no better, Ellis proves that. But right from youth level their system is simply so much more professional and at the top level their coaches are ten times ours.
We're gaining slowly but it'll take time

Picking a backline was very painful
I'd give Brough a go to give us a kicking game and place kicking, might not be the best player available but it's a more balanced side. Forwards look strong with lots of graft allowing for Mary and Crabtree as impact off the bench (ellis to cover back positions).
I'd prefer Tomkins at stand off than Pryce but worried it's too much too soon, the convicts and kiwis would target him.

Picking a backline is difficult indeed, but why pick Gardner who has shown he hasnt got it at international level?
There are young players coming through though I think, just not ready yet unfortunately.

You can whinge on all you like, but playing different interpretations of "play the ball" makes a huge difference. Even high profile Aussies complained about how slow your play the ball was becoming.
The fact that our adminstration in its "wisdom" have now slowed our system down so much just seems foolish.
Our top players can make it in the NRL and more of them should do just that. Unfortunately we don't have many.
We have had a problem with basic skills for as long as I can remember and until there is a holistic approach to training kids it will remain the same. Too much that happens with youth development is left to well meaning amateurs who have their own agendas. What we need is a focused, driven plan to bring quality coaching to all our youngsters.
The fact still remains that the most promising sportsment are attracted to football where the financial rewards make aussie RL look like tiddley winks. RL has to make do with the few good kids from RL families and those others that are left.
And thats before we disscus the impact that de-industrialisation had on the base fitness levels of the "North" and the knock on effect that had on sports

You answered your question before I got chance
I don't rate Gardner highly, but the same goes for his competition for the wing spot. He was at fault numerous times in the world cup, flying in for no reason.
Maybe a flip of a coin would be better, maybe throw a kid in. who knows...
