| in my humble opinion
1. Sam
2. Charnley
3. Goulding
4. Atkins (if its not to much trouble for him)
5. Hall
6. Chase (I dont agree when people say he has been found out. Hes the only bloke who looks bothered for Cas)
7. Brough (the best kicking game in world RL)......(in my opinion)
8. Mossop (Criminal if he aint picked)
9. Mcllorum (Roby might be a more renowned player, but this lad is THE form 9 in the comp)
10. Lynch (a joke he has not been used as a cornerstone of the English pack over the last few years)
11. Hock (Devastating form and can possibly do 80)
12. Westwood (not seen much of him recently, granted)
13. Lockers
14. Chris Hill
15. Roby
16. LMS
17. NOT Peacock or Morley.

I'd go with:
Tomkins
Charnley
Goulding
Atkins
Hall
Chase
Brough
Mossop
McIlorum
Lynch
Hock
Westwood
O'Loughlin
Roby
Crabtree
LMS
Patrick

Good point, I'd forgotten about that. I can't see him picking players outside the squad as it then renders the squad meaningless. So out of the elite squad I'd go with:
1. Tomkins
2. Charnley
3. Cudjoe
4. Ablett
5. Hall
6. Chase
7. Brough
8. Carvell
9. Roby
10. Morley
11. Wilkin
12. Westwood
13. O'Loughlin
14. Burrow
15. Mossop
16. Hock
17. Crabtree

Is how I would line up given the squad announced. However I expect Wilkin and Sinfield to play and i wouldnt play JP but as he he is captain he is certain to start.

Didn't realise the squad was announced today but Ryan Atkins has been picked and he wasn't in the squad, as has Danny Tickle, though I would have liked to have seen Goulding and Lynch in there aswell.

| I find it strange how every season Lynch gets talked up as a potential England player and everyone makes out its some sort of injustice he hasn't been selected. The fact is he has been picked a few times over the years but he's been ruled out through injury or he's had something better to do. Personally I think his time has passed he'll soon be 33 and like Peacock and Morley his best days are behind him and I think it's time we started selecting the likes of Hill, Mossop and Luke Burgess.

I think he deserves his shot at least. If the likes of Peacock, who has been rather pedestrian of late, can be picked, then why not Lynch? He's been in great form for Hull. Props often mature as players in their later years. Lynch has still got a while at Hull. I reckon some of the younger players would benefit playing alongside him like they have at Hull.

| A pointless thread as it is quite obvious that McNamara doesnt pick on form. He was an average player and an even worse coach.

Picking on form can only go so far however. You can't pick players like McIllorum and Goulding no matter how well they are perceived to be playing, simply because they are not technically that good.
McIllorum's distribution is horrific, he's simply not an international standard hooker. He is doing well at Wigan as he's part of their team and playing very, very simple rugby. You can see how little individual performances count at Wigan as you perform the same irrespective of who plays.
Same with Goulding, flourishing with Wigan because of how they play. But is he actually any good? He's not IMO. If you put him in the Saints team or Leeds team, he'd look rubbish. Again, not up to international standard irrespective of his sterling form for Wigan.

Absolue rubbish and I can only conclude you have hardly seen either player play, either that or you are just doing your typical Saints troll. On the rare occasions either player has not played this season we have missed both big time, which was acknowledged by Wane after both games. Both players have been instrumental in Wigan's success this year and certainly not just bit part players like you are trying to imply.
McIlorum has been terriffic and offers a damn sight more in a close, tense match where you dont get a quick play the ball than one trick Roby.
Goulding is technically better than any other English centre and has a very good centres brain, which nearly all of Englands other centres lack, and a great all round centres game.
Its okay though I am sure this will give Roby a chance to fail yet again on the international stage or Cudjoe (a Ryan Atkins light version) a game, which may be important seeing as the Huddersfield fans think he is that out of form that he should be dropped for them

talking crap again, if thats the case all saints players should look fantastic if all a team has to do is to play a certain way to make average joes look good.

| Surprised that Mcllorum, Goulding and Lomax haven't been called up? And i'm surprised even as a Leeds fan we have so many players in when we are playing so poorly at the moment, and could have done with these players sticking with the club to help us redirect our form in the Super League, but with the selection that has been made i would go:
1 Tomkins
2 Charnley
3 Cudjoe
4 Atkins
5 Hall
6 Chase
7 Brough
8 Mossop
9 Roby
10 Peacock (c)
11 Hock
12 Ablett
13 O'Loughlin
Subs:
14 Burrow
15 Carvell
16 Crabtree
17 Wilkin/JJB
However if i had it my way, i would have selected the squad differently and this is how i'd have gone:
1 Tomkins
2 Charnley
3 Goulding
4 Atkins
5 Hall
6 Brough
7 Lomax
8 Patrick
9 Mcllorum/Roby
10 Mossop
11 Westwood
12 Hock/Ablett
13 O'Loughlin
Subs:
14 Mcllorum/Roby/Burrow
15 Peacock
16 Crabtree
17 Kirkmond
If the World Cup was this summer i'd go with a squad of:
1 Tomkins
2 Charnley
3 Reed
4 Atkins
5 Hall
6 Widdop/Lomax
7 Brough
8 Graham
9 Roby
10 Peacock
11 Ellis
12 Westwood
13 O'Loughlin
Subs:
14 Mcllorum/Burrow
15 Hock
16 S.Burgess
17 Patrick/Crabtree
The WC squad generally based around a mix of experience and current form in the Super League/NRL.

Could say the same about Rangi Chase, he's changed allegiances. He's gone from Scotland - England - Scotland - England Ian Henderson as well and Mcllorum both of which i'm sure played for Ireland?
