| Erm, yeah, I've just watched the game back and the drop goal that won the game doesn't actually appear to have gone through the sticks......
Am I the only one to notice this?

I've just gone through the pages and have seen your post, like mine previously, I've just done the same thing this evening. The ball squeues off to the right and misses the post doesn't it?
I thought I was going mad as I hadn't seen it anywhere online or in the news.
He missed!

There was a a fair bit of talk about it starting on page 9 of this thread, when a video came out on Facebook of the DG. Like others have said, there were about 4 or 5 England players looking directly at the ball going over and not one reacted to it and all the NZ'ers did. There was also people that were behind the sticks at the game that say it went over. Does look dodgy on the video but that could be just perspective and it's hard to tell with the ball and posts being the same colour.

It's the problem with camera angles for drop goals, if the ball arcs across the posts and you don't get a definitive camera angle there will always be speculation. I think it is very telling that none of the players contested the decision, and that nobody who was behind the sticks appears to be contesting it. The argument seems to come from some debatable camera angles discovered after the game itself.

| Get two refs into international football, one watching the offside, the other watching the interference at the play the ball, how obvious is this.

| It's just gonna be a ''trick of the camera''. If it genuinely didn't go over there would have been reaction from players and fans, fans would have started booing and you would have seen arm waving, players would have been running to the official and appealing. As it is there was just grim resignation from players and fans closest which suggest no matter what the camera appears to depict, those closest in the flesh saw it go over.

Just because he said it did doesn't make it true, that little montage just shows even more that it didn't go through. As fir the players looking up, they all looked up too late.to notice.one hazy bit of footage that does not change the shape of the post as the ball travels past is all they could come up withto 'prove' it went over...laughable.

| Here yougo, definitive proof the ball did NOT go through the posts, the ball is clearly obscured by the post as it passes outside. IF it had gone between the posts it would have broken the plane and the whole of the ball would be in view.

Unless of course the ball in that rather blurry shot is sideways on....
17-16 stop looking for excuses for poor game management.

| Either way, you'd have to see the next frame. All that shot proves is that at that point, the ball hadn't reached the goal yet.

It's nothing to do with what anyone said. It's what they showed! I.e clearly going through the uprights.

| Except the ball continues to be behind (as you see it) the post at every frame continually being obscured by the post as it goes wide. If the ball went through it would obscure the post at all points as it passes it, at no point does this happen.

Show me the frames immediately before and after the one you posted, and if they prove what you claim, I'll be convinced. The key question is, relative to the shot you posted, is the ball moving from left to right, or right to left?

Slight difference though, you post two images designed to trick the eye.

I haven't worked out how to post images in my phone so can't do that. To answer your question the ball was moving right to left.

I already did days ago but removed them as I needed the space on my photo hosting site. In any case if the ball is 'behind' the post as it is moving from right to left as we see it, which must be the case as it was the shot from behind the posts any before or after frame is irrelevent, the ball cannot swerve back around 180 degrees and re-appear 'in front' of the post and carry on moving left as viewed from behind the posts.
If you bother to check the video footage, put it into full screen and do a frame by frame pause, grab the image it's obvious even without any fancy processing that the ball was obscured by the post as soon as it started to slide past it. By definition this means the ball travelled outside of the right upright (left post as seen from behind)and went wide.
it is not physically possible for the ball to be obscured at that juncture, pop out still partially hidden as it continues to go wide past the upright and then do the 180degree about face and start a completely new trajectory. okay, maybe an almighty gust of wind or a 'hand of god' but again this never occured.

We are talking about it because a critical error was made by a match official that has a direct impact on our national teams chances of reaching the final. this error was denied by those in the hierachy and the mistake perpetuated by lies from the host broadcaster.

Were James Graham, Sam Burgess, Daryl Clark and Johnny Lomax all in on this conspiracy too as they can all be seen clearly looking at the ball when it travels over?

| knockers> I saw your earlier post, and from what you say about travelling from right to left, I agree that it appear to show that the kick missed.
Either way, the ref's decision is the only that matters, though
