This is the that i'm not looking forward to with powell coming to warrington, i hate this constant repetition of 'we've got injuries' which has been going for about 4 years now. as much as people dont like warrington for various reasons, we never make excuses over this, last week, we had a large chunk of players missing for the england game, we didn't get it moved cos we know theres more fixtures coming, just suck it up and play it.

Last year when we had 7/8 out cos of covid at the last minute, we didn't ask for games to get put off, whacked some academy kids in and sucked it up and played the 3 games that were affected.

I'm hoping that one of the first things powell gets told on day one is, no excuses bull like this.

Wakefield had 14 players missing at point last year and still fielded a team. Cas, Hudds, Leeds, Rovers are an embarrassment in this regard.

Powel and Cas suggest that they have injuries and covid issues right through their squad from First team ight down into their academy sides.
I know that we are in unprecedented times but, you would have thought they could muster 17 players.

He (Powell) is probably working on a bit of siege mentality to try and glean that extra few percent for the Cup Final.
My club Trinity have been plagued by injuries for the last couple of seasons, especially last year and yet, managed to complete the highest number of fixtures of any SL club last season, granted we didn't win many but, at least we had a team on the park.

I would gamble that Powell is "happy" to have this one postponed.

So lets get this right, teams following COVID rulings regarding closing training grounds, self isolation and testing are an embarrassment. Are you any relation to Matt Hancock

Your not going to get a medal for the team that completes most games though are you. When and if the current percentage rules are abandoned and we get back to the old 2 points for a win scenario Trinity's fantastic gesture of playing all games at all costs will be long forgotten.

Cas have lost 24-0 because they can’t raise a team. If this had been down to Covid they wouldn’t have lost 24-0.

Plain and simple they can’t raise a team because they are a tin pot club in a tin pot league.

Both football and RU have lost fixtures due to covid issues.

Mind you, in Union, the club that cant raise a side suffer a 24 - 0 reverse, regardless of whether it's injuries or covid.
Maybe League should follow their example ?

Very convenient timing. I’ve read on another post that Salford prior to naming their squad have tried to postpone/re-arrange this fixture unsuccessfully. Not sure on the truth of that though but this Covid case and the resulting 6 track and trace (which seems a lot as I thought they trained in small groups to avoid this very issue) has ultimately worked in their favour.

Not facing the team directly above them they had likely targeted as a possible win with an injury depleted and suspension ridden squad is a definite bonus.

On the flip side wakey lose the advantage of 4 Salford suspensions that gets handed over to castleford who ironically are one of the teams wakey could have an outside chance of catching come end of season.

Added to that wakey now face a Saints team who haven’t played in 4 weeks and are well rested which will probably dent the % working in the teams below us favour.

It’s a bit of a joke really.

Any outbreaks in other sports seem to have been small and easily dealt with, such as in the current Euros.

In RL it's never contained. And often conveniently before a team has an important match against a tough opponent.

Is Wakefield at home really viewed as a tough assignment for Salford?

Lots of fekkwittery here about this being some sort of scam but it really isn't that easy to fake Covid.

Come on Ghost, every game for Salford is "a tough assignment" at the moment, especially with their injury situation, plus the 3 suspensions picked up against Leeds.
The rumours were that they were already looking to postpone the fixture and then surprise, surprise, they have managed to pass the "covid threshold".
At least Cas had the decency to be honest and forfeit their game. Although, it has to be said that, this probably looks worse for the sport than a covid postponement.

This was a huge game for them, theoretically against a fellow struggler, did they really want to play this one with 3 suspended, plus their injuries etc. I think not.
Whether the covid contacts were legitimate, we may never know but, as a Trinity fan, I would rather be playing tomorrow, than playing when they are "fully fit" and free of suspensions.

Bearing in mind the covid protocols and the evidence the clubs need to provide, can you run through the process of faking covid tests or covid contacts ?

Whether or not COVID tests are”faked” is irrelevant. The fact is that the league this year is going to be decided by rolls of the dice. If a team can’t play because of COVID or any other reason they should forfeit the match. That would do away with the unfair percentage system and maintain the integrity of the league. And it might just encourage clubs to put a team out. And….Cas, being unable to field a team for non COVID reasons, should be docked points.

Clearly, it shouldn't be possible.
However, none of us are privy to how these things actually work. Having said that, it's certainly a very happy coincidence that a side struggling to name their squad, just happens to be hit, not with direct cases (which are easily checked) but, with "contacts", which must be close on impossible to verify.

Contacts are pretty easy to verify if you are following the SL protocols. They employ a specialist company to do just that!
