No I saw that one too. Silverwood even managed to see ones that weren't there.
One (or two if you really think Eastmond's was) against three against Morley, plus two or three others.
Oh and in the real world two wrongs don't make a right.

Can you tell me why the penalty against Foster was given? The tackle wasn't complete, they were both still sliding on the grass. Can you tell me why Monaghan on Foster in an identical incident was given the other way?
Can you tell why if that obstruction try was okay, the one at Bradford wasn't?

Interesting.
I guess things were evened out considering Silverwood hates Warrington.
I agree with what you say, Silverwood was a joke tonight.

| Silverwood was poor tonight and highlighted the scandalous inconsistency in referees. Last week in the Bulls vs Hull FC game Bentham binned a Bulls player after 4 indiscretions at the ruck.
Saints were penalised for at least twice as many indiscretions tonight but no card was produced. Being down to 12 killed the Bulls hopes of a win. Shocking stuff Mr Cummings.

It's not just a rant against an official to attempt to rationalise a defeat. I posted the first bit after 6 minutes and the Foster penalty. Do you not think there was an inconsistency in those calls I mentioned? (Foster and the obstruction try).

Several fans from other clubs (not just Wigan) were saying the ref and VR were shocking tonight.

Wasn't obstruction against Soliola. Bridge was running straight, Soliola was sliding across. Soliola got to the scorer and could and should have made the tackle. he didn't claim he was obstructed and there was very minor contact.
The difference with Bradford last week was that a Saints player got between the scorer and Bulls defender.
Very strange game last night, with both sides dominating for long spells and both could have been further clear with a bit more clinical play.

| I (as a neutral) think Saints got some rough calls. Forward passes are being missed in all games but that is not my gripe the penalising of Foster for what was a great tackle was a disgrace, the number of ball strips that go unpunished is a joke(why do we pay toch judges) & not one penalty for incorect play the ball or walking off the mark yet penaltys for not square? take a look at the NRL this year & see how the ruck should be policed. It was also rough justice on Fosters kick that hit the crossbar. I think a penalty for that is harsh to end up defending you line is extremly harsh I know its the rule but maybe a handover on halfway would be an equitable result?

| Whilst I agree that the match officials often make mistakes, they aren't doing them deliberately. As Phil Clarke once said 'The ref makes mistakes but so do the players'
Anybody who can do better than the current match official squad (James Child not included!) is invited to attend a course and pick up the whistle

Agree with you on the moving off the msrk and scrappy play the balls. It seems that in the desire for a faster and faster game, these things are totally ignored.
The crossbar one was tough. the inconsistency is highlighted further when kicks are aimed at the posts from which advantage can be gained. I can't remember ever seeing that happen before.
Surely has to be on 'Crossbar Challenge' on Soccer AM next season

The ball never bounced on the ground from the kick, it hit the crossbar and still went out on the full, so a penalty was the right decision.
He had at least 34 metres of space either side of the sticks to put the kick, so just because he hit the crossbar, why should they not be penalised.

| The number of forward passes in the game these days is shocking. I know the game is faster and the referee is ten yards away and not in the best position to see them, but surely the now they are wired up the linesman can tell him in a instant. Or even easier, every time Sinfield throws a pass just assume it's forward unless the touch judge tells him otherwise?!

You are of course correct, but if you head high tackle you are penalised at the place you hit him not 50 meters further down the pitch to me a miss placed kick is not as serious as a head shot, plus a kick out on the full is only punished by a scrum from the place a kick is taken. the only other way to save the problems is to take the posts out ofr the field of play as in the American game.

| He would have still hit the bar if they used the same posts as NFL, freak kick so whilst a penalty seems harsh we'd land up with another 30 rules to try and account for it happening again.

The offence took place on the halfway line - where he kicked it from. Take kicking out on the full in general play; the scrum/handover takes place where the ball was kicked from, not where it landed.

Pretty pointless post.
I'm sure everyone on this forum knows that the touch judge is often also be known as the linesman.
