| Quote ="Him"And how about in the last 10 seasons? Where Saints have appeared in just 4 finals, losing 3 and winning 1 against 12 men.
By comparison Wigan have appeared in 9 finals and won 6. And Leeds have appeared in 10 finals and won 7. And Warrington have appeared in 9 finals and won 3.
Saints have the same finals win ratio as Warrington.
It would seem daft for fans of a team who couldn’t make it to a final to take the mick out of a team that did.
Especially as Saints won nothing this year as well.'"
If you want to start time period cherry picking let’s have the last 5 years then where Saints have a 100% success rate and Warrington a 100% failure rate in grand finals.
Saints won a trophy and £100k in price money by the way, unless you want to cherry pick that out of the way in having no significance.
I seem to remember Saints won the LLS in 4 consecutive years and it became the mickey mouse trophy or hub cap, then suddenly when Huddersfield, Warrington and Castleford won it and it became the best thing since sliced bread.

| I wonder who will win this battle of statistics to prove a meaningless point. As I said before, unless you wear the cherry and white or blood and gold your season has ended in disappointment.
Onwards and upwards for 2019.

This is my point. I have no problem with Wigan or Leeds fans taking the mick but correct me if I'm wrong the only thing Saints have won in the last 6 years (?) is a LLS and a Grand Final that was handed and gift wrapped to them by Ben Flower.
You choked two semi finals this season when you were heavy favourites to win both. Steve Price has been to more finals in his first year than Holbrook has with Saints.
You choked 5 Grand Finals during 2007-2011 so it's a bit rich of you to take the mick out of Warrington. I don't dispute the fact that you may have been successful 10-15 years ago by the way.

I think Leeds deserve a fair chunk of credit for their wins in that period, it's not like we fluked our way to the final and only won because Saints failed to turn up - we outplayed them - and I think that Leeds team would have beaten whoever they faced in those finals. Not all losses are down to choking.

Yes, leaves a slightly bitter taste. I’d rather they’d got away with the bans, what good are they to us now?

And what's the point of a ban anyway, when, if the BBC report is correct, they could just miss a preseason fixture ?

Of course you do. You were a champion team then.
But when Warrington lose they are known as 'choking it' or 'bottling it' yet Saints fans seem to have short memories and forget that they lost five on the bounce finishing 1st three times out of the five they lost.
I was astounded we made the final this year given where we finished last year and with a new coach coming in. I expected this season to be a transitional season and would have been happy just finishing in the 8. We've played with Kevin Brown and Tyrone Roberts at halfback all year and both have been very average (and that's being nice). It was always going to be a huge ask to beat a Wigan team full of champions who hadn't lost a game in their last 8 and were fully motivated with their two best players and their most successful Super League coach having their last game. This idea that we choked it is nonsense. We choked it in 2016 when we were two tries up and in control and should have won.
I'm more than happy with where we are at the minute and we are massively ahead of schedule and where i thought we would be. Hopefully with Blake Austin coming in next season he will take us to that next level.
I can't see Wigan being as good next year, same with Saints after losing Barba. Leeds will get better but again have a new coach. Cas will be up there again but they seem to let themselves down in the big games.

yup, i normally stay and clap them off regardless of the result and location. it stung a lot when manfredi went over for his second 3 minutes from time so i left at that point, and walked back to media city tram stop to beat the crush.
Its' about a 15 minute walk, and there were already wigan fans stood waiting when we got there.

I left straight after Manfredi scored also. Our coach was being leaving from just outside the Lowry/Media City and I too couldn't believe how many Wigan fans we walked past.
Imagine paying 50 notes to watch your beloved team win the biggest prize on offer to not watch them lift the trophy and celebrate. I don't understand it at all.

| I do. Wigan fans expect their team to win and have seen it often enough. Lifting the big trophy is not a big deal for them as it would have been for our fans, had we won.

Rubbish. I'd never get bored of my team winning trophies no matter how many times they'd have won them previously. Winning titles and trophies is the pinnacle.

I left on the hooter after clapping the players off and made it out as Tomkins got on the mic (before the trophy was lifted) and by the time i got to the Met stop i saw absolutely loads of Wigan "fans" well ahead of me in the queue for the Met and saw them at the eateries half way through a burger or chips as i walked down Warwick Road before that too.
They must have left at 8-4 never mind after the Manfredi try, or the hooter, and certainly never mind to see their team lift the trophy in their most successful coach (for a quarter of a century)'s final game.
Very bizarre behaviour. There weren't just the odd one or two, it was bloody LOADS!

| I left on the Manfredi try and when coming down the stairs was next to LOTS of Wigan fans. I asked them why they were leaving and told them to get back into the stadium as they'd just won the title - was just met with shrugs, I found it offensive to be honest. Now obviously Wigan have won LOADS and maybe it does get a bit repetitive but I'm glad I'm a Wire and not one of that lot as despite the constant heartache IF we finally get over the line it'll mean much, much more than any of them can clearly comprehend. Strange bunch.

| I have heard of Wigan fans leaving before the end of games but just dismissed it as sour grapes from fans of other clubs.
However, I went to see HullFC play in Australia this year. I watched the game at the ANZ stadium and then watched the Wigan game until half time, at which point we left, my wife and I are not exactly in the first flush of youth ( in our seventies) and it was getting rather late. On the train going back to Sydney Central were a few Wigan fans? I can understand Hull fans leaving early, but why travel 12500 miles to see your team and leave at half time?
