| I can wait. Lots of "woe is me" and "why couldn't we have a drink to unwind after losing to Italy?"
No thanks.

| Listen Hock and Hardacker got exactly what they deserved but I'd have respected him more if he'd canned Graham and McIllorum too but getting rid of Graham would have been a huge decision because of his obvious talent.
Yes I'm going off a hunch to some extent but over time I know I'll be proved right, no one in contention right now will speak out, those dropped will be accused of sour grapes but there is definite unease in the camp.

Twas ever thus. There's always some dissent in the ranks. I can remember this sort of stuff going right back to the 1979 GB tour. Even ultra scary Mal Reilly had his fallouts with the likes of Hanley, Crooks, Goulding, Andy Gregory etc, read the biographies!

Even if your 'hunch' (or made up in your head as it's mor commonly known) and said players don't respect McNamara, who are the idiots in that situation? If the players can't put aside any feelings like that and actually abide to the rules set by the boss of the Mational team at the start of the WC campaign then they deserve all they get.
And again you haven't got a clue what actually happened with any of the players but are making things up yo suit your opinion of SM

| Quote ="Mystic Yed"Get rid, if the players respected him then there wouldn't have been the early discipline problems, plus the problems every time a player isn't selected they show their booty and want to leave. They don't respect him, they think his opinion beneath them and for that reason he can't command any authority.
His selection is baffling, he doesn't rate the current MoS, the same man shortlisted with SBW and GI, the same man who made Scotland a level higher than anyone expected.
Then there's the whole Ferres, fringe player that turns out to be one of our better players.
Losing against Italy, Exiles.
Guy isn't good enough, what would Wayne Bennett have done with the pool of players he had at his disposal?'"
Well said, good to see some posters can see further than a narrow defeat to NZ and another close defeat against a rusty Australian team who hadn't had a game for weeks. This was a match that was there for the taking and realistically a win over them would have taken us to the final, but his squad/team selection meant he blew it. He's mumbled and stumbled all along the way since he got the job. His "dream partnership" of Saint Kev and Rangi, have also fumbled and stumbled along since he unleashed them onto the "stage" and he was too stubborn to admit it wasn't working, never would, and he just carried on regardless. Nothing he's done in the job has filled me with any confidence that he can take England (or any other team) forward, some poor (pathetic) performances against the exiles a few "walkover" wins over Ireland, Fiji etc coupled with a defeat against the mighty Italy are not really signs of a manager who knows what he's doing and is carrying England forward. Best for the future of England if he does the honourable thing and resigns, if not then either the powers that be get shut of him now or consign us to a few more years of "also rans" languishing behind our friends from down under.

Read it again Saint Kev/ Rangi, if you think that combination didn't fumble and stumble and worked well then you clearly have problems
Bloody hell, if you don't post how great Sinfield is on here the natives don't half get restless. Pity his halo slipped a bit on Saturday with the "ordinary kick" and missed tackle at the end, it sort of nullified his decent performance. Just saying it as I and many others saw it. Take care and have a good day.

| I don't like the idea of the coach having a rolling one year contract.
If we are saying that players going drinking show that coaches are no good, then sack em all.
There are plenty of club coaches in fact all of them who have players who don't toe the line. There is not one coach in RL that has not had a naughty boy or set of naughty boys to deal with.

| To put things into perspective, McNamara has been in charge for 4 autumn series (2010-2013) and has played Australia 4 times and NZ 3 times - 7 in total.
Brian Noble was in charge for 3 years (2004-2006) and played Australia 7 times (2 wins) and NZ 7 times (4 wins) - 14 in total.
You have a lot more chance of beating them if you play them more often. Even with a 4N campaign next year he will have played Aus/NZ 4 times less despite being in charge for 2 more seasons.

Hahaha..point proven, Noble 6 wins out of 14 against 1 win in 7 for Bananaman (who aregueably has a far superior squad of players comparatively)
That makes Noble 3 times better than bananaman against the top 2 teams, how many times have we beaten Australia of late? NONE, ZERO, NADA, NIL, ZILCH, not even when they were massively underdone...
Mcbanana should fall on his sword, it's the last and only decent toption he can do now. To take a wage fro the RFL coffers is just an insult to the fans and the players, the guy is competely out of his depth both from a rugby POV and and as a man manager/dealing with media POV..
Could have done with a side swipe from Tanya Arnold, so Steve..at least I'll be in a job next month, how about you...LMFAO

Or England's lack of wins against Australia could have coincided with Slater, Inglis, Hodges, Thurston, Cronk, Smith, Thaiday etc. becoming regular members of the Kangaroo team. Also coincided with Queensland dominating State of Origin for 7/8 years (can also throw Lockyer into that mix).

Beat me to it. A quick glance at some of the NZ teams that Noble "masterminded" victories against makes for interesting reading. They are simply not even close to the current team.

Biff,
Where do Noble's teams stand against the current one? Could the same advancements be said for England as were for the NZ teams? Genuine question, not looked at the teams Noble lead out.

The current team is stronger overall, no doubt about that. But those teams still contained players like Farrell, Sculthorpe, Morley, Peacock etc etc. That's why comparing results of different coaches against the "same" teams a difficult one, and why the earlier suggestion that Noble is 3 times the coach that Mcnamara is because he won more games against Australia and NZ is just daft.

That's what I though might be the case. It's like comparing players today from the game in the 50's and 60's. It can't be done, you are only as good as the time you played in/coached in and to that you can only measure against your peers at the time. So whilst McNamara's record is not good against Aus and NZ it has risen over the seven games from being absolute hidings to being quite close against NZ and improved against Aus.
I would love to see how it measures against an Aus side that has been in camp for a few weeks though, that would be a better acid test than the first game of the tournament. Same with England mind, they looked very sharp against NZ and that was after several weeks together and after jettisoning the Maori.

| As I said on the Leeds board. The international calendar works out quite well for us.
McNamara and his team were 20 seconds away from giving us a World Cup final, had we made it and put up even a good performance against Australia I don’t think people would be calling for his head.
Next year we have a 4 nations comp. We should try and use everything we have learned throughout this world cup to go hell for leather to win that comp, win an international series and get that monkey of our backs. If McNamara fails in the 4 nations, get rid.
Then whoever we employ would have a full GB tour in 2015 to try out players and combinations, use 2016 to perfect them for the next WC in 2017.
