The RFL need to grow some and get serious about reducing the quota. The latest Crusaders farce shows they don;t really care still.

Simple way would be to link the SL grant to number of overseas players in a squad. For every non Home countries eligible player you lose 50k of your SL grant. Would soon make clubs think twice about signing squad players from the NRL. and Yes to the OP we have too many and seem to be happy to keep filling our team with NRL fringe players!

more interesting would be who has been brought up through the ranks and should get first team action this season

you really did make me laugh out loud. I didn't mean it personally at you i mean the RFL are so keen on cutting the overseas but the real problem is developing quality english players.

There does need to be a serious effort in reducing the quota - this was done a few years ago in the Championship to the lengths that some clubs don't have a single overseas player. Too many overseas players in key positions in Super League as far as I'm concerned and there's no doubt whatsoever that it effects the strength in depth for the England squad.

Things have been done just there are too many exceptions still flying about at the moment.

The players with the exemptions from being Overseas trained (i.e. Pat Richards) can't have long left in their careers now, so once they retire, thats one exemption out of the way.

The second lot is all the crusaders players, did the RFL put a time limit on how long they'd be off quota for? Or just forever if they dont move clubs again?

One question would you class Jack Reed as an overseas palyer if he came to a Superleague club? The reasson I ask is although he was born in England he moved to Aus at just 2 years old and so has spent the vast majority of his life there. Whereas Hansen moved here as a kid and went through high school here and has spent more than half of his life in the UK.
