It'd be worth the while granting Salford a total salary cap exemption, if only to annoy fans of all those SL clubs who have been enjoying the fruits of the current salary-capped stitch-up.
We might even get some real world class stars of the game (even if they are all at Salford) playing in SL instead of the current dross on offer at all the clubs.'"
Absolutely spot on. The game is so under capitalised its not true. 13 more like Marwan needed to inject quality into SL.

| Just scrap the salary cap with immediate effect.
I agree that, instead:-
1. 6 point deduction if you go into Administration
2. Relegation to bottom division if you go bust
3. Fix a limit on the number of players that a club can have registered at any one time.
4. 13 of 17 players named for each match to be EU born.

A slight change to number 4. Then I'd agree with that.

| 5. Allow each team a 5 minute "golden chance" by putting a 14th man on the field. That would spice the games up a bit.

I've got it in good authority we've already signed, Tim Smith, (Wakefield) Rangi Chase, (Castleford) Gareth Hock, (Wigan) Tony Puletua, (St Helens) Francis Meli, (St Helens)'Adrian Morley, (Warrington)!Junior Sau, (Melbourne) Steve Rapira, (NZ Warriors) Tommy Lee. (London) That's 9 players upto now I've heard 10 to maybe 12 will be announced all in all.

Think that might finally put an end to all those over the last few months that have peddled the he won't sign for a club like Salford or he won't get a permit or he's going back down under or God knows how many more reasons have been used and for those who still call him Dr No Cash have a look under the statistical summary tab not to bad prize money.

| I'm warming to the head of S.P.E.C.T.R.E to be honest. Whether we like his forward style or not it would appear he's bringing money into the game so hooray to that. I hope he has patience because it doesn't necessarily follow that tipping lots of money into a club will bring instant rewards. It's taken Ken Davy, going about his business quietly, many years and lots of cash to get that LLS. He's been very patient and very humble. Will Dr Evil follow suit? Unlikely but at least he's got people talking about RL in Salford again. Can only be a good thing.

| The horse thing exemplifies why he has put noses out of joint. Zero class in the man. He agrees not to unveil a signing but then goes ahead and does it like this.
Someone mentioned earlier in this thread about what Cas fans would say if a fan won Euro Millions and pumped loads of cash into a club. Well at least they would have an excuse for acting so uncouth. You would expect just a modicum of professionalism from a businessman. I can't remember Roman Ambramovich acting like a complete weapon.
I'd much rather see characters on the field or in coaching staff and have pros running the game and clubs. His money in the game is good, much less so the man himself.

so when people who couldn't give a damn about rugby league are watching the racing on Thursday and see a horse called Rangi Chase or Brian Noble and ask about the name of the horses and someone tells them they are named after two people involved in rugby league that's a bad thing

I guess you think the Willan signing was done ok but I bet the Spurs fans would not agree.

You don't get the money without the man
I find myself wondering where was all this indignation last year when for several weeks before Matty Smith joined wigan he was being named in the media wonder how it got there and where was it when for months when Joel Moon was encouraged to feel homesick and again when Daniel Holdsworth was being spoken to by a person who once lived on the same street.

| 1. I didn't say a word about media exposure. I said it shows he has no class. As it goes the column inches he generates aren't a terrible thing. But as I said in my last point, I'd much rather it be the RL people making the headlines, not the money men.
2. Chelsea pulled all sorts of dirty tricks. Mikel I think was the worst. But throughout it all Aramovich sat pretty quiet on the sidelines. I don't remember him making his yacht after a player he was about to sign. I'd compare Koucash more with Real Madrid acting like dicks putting Bale shirts on sale before they completed the deal.
3. You're right, you don't get the money without the man. But in this case the man is a weapon.
On Matty Smith and Moon. Both ty affairs. But did you hear a peep out of the money men? Nothing. A leak can be plausibly denied. Perhaps it was Moon engineering a deal. Only one bloke named that horse.
There are plusses to him being in the sport. His money at Cas and Wakey and wherever else is great needed. But I stick but my original point: He isn't liked because he is a classless weapon.
Edited for a couple of phone typos.

| He probably shouldn't be naming a horse after Rangi until he is officially a Salford player if/when that happens.
I can understand how the Doc got a few peoples noses up when he first came on the scene and his salary cap comments were at best ill advised but how anyone can say the bloke isn't good for the game is beyond me. Frankly we need another 13 Dr's.
We are in an era when we have no major sponsor, loosing a stream of top players to the NRL and union, everyone agrees the sport is desperate for funding. Bradford's recent troubles are there for all to see, Wakey are in the poop again, it looks as though London's owner is pulling the plug as is Hull KR's.
We have a bloke who is willing to chuck money at the sport, i has to be a good thing. Ok i'm sure most of us would rather he was throwing money at our own club but he bought Salford, good luck to him and them. It's now up to other clubs to find themselves a Dr of their own.
