I think so yes! the three sides were built during the 90s and the fourth was... I am sure... there for the SL period. (I went there before they were promoted but not after) And whilst the stadium is quite nice... the area around the ground is abysmal ... half the problem with developing existing sites...
that said Wides have been wrongly( IMO) excluded from the higher leagues twice now in their history... and they deserve the chance.

| Quote ="dally messenger"the business plan shows where a club will gets its income from.
what to look for :
1. sponsor - if they are signed up, this is guaranteed
2. estimated crowds in SL - are these realistic
3. presence of sugar daddy - can he support the club year in year out
4. other income sources
5. own ground, rent etc.'"
Once again you show your lack of knowledge of the game in the UK.
In the last licensing process at least two clubs were highlighted as having an over reliance on "Sugar Daddies" - Think it was Wigan and Huddersfield.
Then you have Mr Sugar Daddy - Leighton Samuel at Celtic Crusaders -- Wow what a success that was!!!

I don't think Stobart were on board beforehand.
Big company, tied into the owner.
Celtic have to, their 'youth' is barely out of dypers, they'd be crucified at SL level.
The 4th stand opened about 3 weeks before they got relegated I think.
I agree on your last point.
Sugar daddies are a good thing as long as you aren't asking too much of their pockets. It certainly isn't the be all and end all.

Aye, and with Barrow AFC – allegedly
And
Chester City FC – allegedly
Quote ="dally messenger"eg widnes -
1. id say estimated SL crowds of 6000 in year 1, growing to 8000 - 10,000 in year 3.
2. rich sugar daddy
3. what kind of rent do they pay at the halton stadium
over a 3 - 5 year period widnes in SL should be able to spend the full salary cap ie add to the competition.'"
Widnes don’t pay rent anymore. As well as sponsoring the shirt, Stobart also sponsor the stadium – hence it being called the Stobart Stadium Halton.
I'm not too sure about us getting upto 10,000 within 3 years, without some sort of major succsess, but 8,000 – 9,000 is realistic. 10,000 would be a reasonable long term aim though.
Quote ="underground"does your logic stack up to analysis... Widnes spent 3 or 4 years in superleague... did the crowds/ income/ etc grow in that time... as your argument predicts?'"
Good point. We can only guess. Trying to make that guess without the relevant information will get us all nowhere. We were a bit up and down during our period in SL, but we had a good starting point and were relegated with a poor team playing poop and still got 6794. All SL clubs have grown their attendances since then, and I’ve no doubt that Widnes’ figures would’ve grown too.
SL Year - 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - 2005
Widnes - 6510 - 6511 - 6153 - 6794
Wakey - 3889 - 4017 - 4806 - 5100
Salford - 4199 - n/a - 3996 - 4093
Quins - 3803 - 3546 - 3458 - 4003
Hudds - n/a - 4722 - 4362 - 5853
At the end of the day, Widnes are not competing with Wakefield for a licence. The RFL have said that one SL club is going down and one Championship club is going up. This effectively means that the SL clubs are only competing with each other and the Championship clubs are doing the same. As such, Wakefield’s merit can only meaningfully be compared with the merit of other Super League clubs. Comparing them with Widnes is meaningless.

Have they actually been quoted as saying this
What if all 14 pass muster at the next round, will they chuck one out for the hell of it. I thought the Championship clubs who won something only had the right to APPLY for a franchise.

| I can't be 100% certain but I'm pretty sure somebody from the RFL has said that there will be a Championship side going up in 2012.
I can't remember them saying that a current SL club would go down so that may mean a 15 team SL .

No problem.
The club should never have gotten involved with him. One of our former directors approached former club chairman Tony Chmabers with an offer from Vaughan to take over the club. Tony should have told him to off. Sadly, he didn’t.

Not sure,if anyone can find the interview Nigel Wood did a couple of weeks ago in the League Express -- but im sure he seemed more guarded about a team being definately promoted and a team definately being booted out, than previous comments that have been made.

I saw that too. I suppose the RFL are covering their s here. Unless the RFL can get more funding to expand the league, I cannot see a club not losing their place in 2012.

It all depends what happens at Wrexham. If that goes the same way as Celtic did then they'll be out. So that's one. If that ship steadies then i can see them throwing out one of two clubs - Salford or Wakefield. Why throw any out? Well Pepe, you know the answer to that - because Widnes are streets ahead of the pair of them and i can't see that changing over the next 18 months.
