Couldnt agree more, its the younger more exciting players that make you want to watch not some of the older tried and failed ones.

im excited about widdop if he gains more experience over the next few years in the storms 1st team he'll be a great asset to England in the world cup as for the 4 nations it will be a good learning curve for him being included in the squad.

He debuted against the Warriers in place of Ingliss and had a good solid game. He is replacing Finch at 6 next year when Finch leaves for Wigan.

This team for me... the only change I would make is have Lunt in the starting kine up instead of Sinfield. Sinfield is a good player but I think we need more speed from dummy half - Lunt and Roby are the two most dangerous runners in the league from 9 and Lunt's distribution is very good too

It's got me wondering why England don't select Chris Heighington from the Wests Tigers qualifies via father and has said he would play for them if you believe the Aussie papers

cos we don't need another back row forward..we've got plenty...and plenty better than heighington..if he can't make the shower of shi'ite NSW pack....what would he bring to ours??

To be fair to Heighington it's a disgrace he hasn't been selected for Origin... he has been one of the form NSW forwards for a couple pf years

Agree though that he wouldn't add too much to England - would be a squad player in English, probably not the 17 and definitely not the 13

Selecting an England side is a pointless exercise.

They'll never beat Australia to win a series or competition until they are able to select an almost full squad of players whose playing careers are in the NRL.

Oh why dont we just give up now then and not bother heading to Australia this autumn?

Playing in the NRL doesnt automatically make you a star player, hence why Flannagan hasnt so far been picked despite the fact he plays 1st grade for the Wests.

Or we could try harder to get our playing standards and coaching up to the Austrailian level?

i don't see how widdop is first choice for most people. how many people have actually seen him play regularly this year, he's only played 2 first team games for melbourne.. it's like picking johnny lomax at full back, whose played more first team games than widdop.. personally i'd pick wellens and briscoe in front of widdop

what does say something about england though is on the way to the crusaders match, we where discussing the signing of shenton, who on here is there or thereabouts for the England first choice centre.. and we weren't thinking "wow what a signing" more of "i think he'll do well" - sort of says it all about the england team

He will have to play prop with peacock out so two start from burgess, graham or Morley. The other starts on the bench. Neither are gonna play 80 minutes at that level on the front row and I don't think it matters too much which start and which don't.
