I would just love to sign him and the fact that it would demonstrate we are a club on the way up whilst Cas are on their way down.

| I'll be honest if Powell thinks he can improve him by working with Shenton, I trust him but I wouldn't be paying a fee for him. His defence is still a weak spot and he's still quite light weight imo. I know he's got age on his side but atm he wouldn't get in our side as a first-choice centre, I'd prefer Thornley and Pratt.

When he was with us I can't really remember issues with his defence or being too light weight. In fact at the back end of his time we seemed to play him in the second row. He should never have left as I thought he was comming on great in his development. Bad but of business by a clueless individual

Hall and TJ were pretty good together 2 years ago. Pratt and Walmsley on the right who are this seasons left partnership too is a bonus.
Could be a decent signing that if he can regather some form.

Watched hull a few times and can’t say Scott has stood out. The club may see something in him but I’m not sure. Honestly if we are looking for him as a centre I’d be as happy to keep Croft who is reliable rotation cover for Centre/Wing.

| In respect of Cam Scott I thought he was a great prospect a couple of seasons ago. However he now seems to be suffering the toxic environment over at Hull. I don't know what's going on over there in any detail but plenty of other good players now look terrible.
Also going back to Corrie Hall, the rug was pulled from under his feet at our place and when he first arrived at HKR he was getting MOM in his early games.
Plenty of players suffer form drop at clubs and a change to a different environment can make them flourish again.
We now have a team in place that actually know what they are doing as opposed to our last director of rugby. If one or both arrive with us, I will be happy with that.

Agree. He's let a few past him on Sky this season. Has potential though.
I still think it's a shame Dagger went, I rated him.

At the time he was with us and it's just my opinion, I felt he was prone to getting bullied a bit by bigger centres/players but he was just a young player thrown into our team at the time, who was a prospect. His talent is obviously in attack, with his pace and eye for a gap. I've watched him a few times at HKR and he's been alright but if he wasn't one of our homegrown players I don't think I'd have noticed him so much tbh. I honestly don't remember him playing second row, look at the picture of him playing for Cas the other day, he's still the same fairly slight build he was when he left here. If he did, I don't know what we were thinking. Ateotd as I said I'd have him back, I trust Powell's judgment and working with Shenton would do wonders for his game like it seems to have with Pratt but I wouldn't pay Hull KR much of a fee for him.
Carter explained the situation on a podcast after he left, Hull KR had enquired about him before he left and we knocked them back but when we became desperate and wanted Dagger, who tbf played well for us. Corey was the only bargaining chip the club had he said. No one wanted to see him go but we unfortunately were a skint club then.
As for Scott, before this season I thought he looked like a good player but let's be honest Hull is a mess and there looks to be a toxic environment and no one has looked that good at Hull, like you say getting him away from there will reinvigorate his career.

Would hall and Pratt be up to the full rigours of Super league as our main strike players in those positions personally I think not ,and still need more time to develop their games . As we’ve found out to our detriment there are no places to hide when the likes of Wigan , saints come calling , they are certainly no Collis or Tupou who would have graced any team in super league. Harsh as it may sound there is no room for sentiment if we are serious of competing with the very best . Imo we grab hall and develop him for the future the same as Pratt , but our starting centres next season , not for me I’m afraid , they’ll get torn a new one imo .

Not sure, Pratt is playing very well and a full season under his belt and another full time pre season should see him a lot more ready. Plus he’ll be 20/21 next season which isn’t fresh out of academy.
Physically he’s making great strides too. I’m not sure about Hall but equally there’s not much in terms of home based quality available at centre.

That's sort of my thinking with bringing Hall in. I mean when we had those decent few years with Chester we had Tupou and Lyne both red hot at the time, dream team selection Lyne playing for England, imo not far off the best centre partnership in the league for those years and add to that I think we also had a couple of the best centre/wing partnerships going. We need players of that standard if we are serious about building a consistent top-competing side.
I think Pratt has come on in a short time but obviously, you have to line that up with the standard of the Championship. I do think after this year if he continues his trajectory I'd back him in SL. But as we know in SL you need quality defenders as well as attackers and I don't fancy starting with Hall and Pratt in SL if I'm being honest, not next year anyway, maybe it will come a year too soon as a pair.
This is where we could have done with a quota spot if we get into SL next season, to bring in a top Aussie, they have loads of quality centres and get him paired with TJ. Then we can bring in Hall, keep Pratt and develop them, along with Croft. That enables us to develop our own and plan for the future. We haven't, so hopefully Thornley can do another year which would give us a year to let these young guns develop even further.
Also, I think Derrell Olpherts has really settled down and become a decent signing, I'm pleased for the local lad and he would be good cover for us at SL tbh.
Watching the game back Doyle really impressed me, he always does but even more so yesterday. Watching the video you can really see how much more direction and quicker we played when he came on in that 2nd half. He's nippy, got a good fast pass off the deck, can see a gap and tackles as all good hookers do above his weight, and did great yesterday as well as the usual suspects that have been mentioned. It's great that we have him and Harry waiting in the wings, both top players at this level and their ceilings seems so high.

| I agree.
Except, if we were to create space for another quota spot, it would be a scrum half not a centre.
If you replaced Gale with someone like Hastings the rest of the backline would really tick.
Whereas if you put a quality centre outside Lawford and Lino, we'd all be frustrated with the stuttering attack with the odd solo effort.

| I’d be chasing hard for Abdull to partner Lino and bringing in a proven quality centre .Think the forwards will hold their own and even boss it up front , but the back line certainly needs tweaking to be competitive next season ,and Mr Mills certainly has a job on his hands to get us that right combination to make us a competitive team amongst the big boys

| There’s not much at centre but I would probably retain Pratt and
Croft and sign Hall and probably look at Chamberlain who’s a solid centre with utility value or see if Thornley will give it another year with us.

I don't think Croft is at the level of Pratt and I'm not sure if he will make SL standard.
I'm in disagreement with some on here becausr by the time we're hopefully back in SL I reckon Pratt and Hall would do it but I also reckon Thornley could do another stint so he would be first choice and an ideal mentor for Pratt in SL.
Hall has nothing to prove to me.
He knows what SL is all about and he'll be a year older. No brainer for me - let's get him back!

Agree about Doyle, wasn't sure when we signed him but he's playing really well. Played 13 a few times as well I believe this year, really gets about it and tackles well. When he came on sunday we had a real purpose at the ruck and he runs fast and hard and always has defenders on their toes. good signing IMO and gone a bit under the radar

He’s one I can see making steady but positive progress. Turned out to be a good signing and I’m sure he’ll continue developing this season and be ready for next in SL hopefully.

We're meant to have signed Russell, so it'd be Russell and Lino wouldn't it as Lawford would be back up. Let's be honest ideally, we'd have a couple of places left on the quota to get both.
