So what you're saying is that the original title of this thread should have been:

| *Excluding games involving Widnes this year
In the other 18 matches played so far the total attendance is at....
2013 = 174,482
Same fixtures in.....
2012 = 191,346
2011 = 175,823
2010 = 173,939
2009 = 166,897
So really 2013 isn't doing bad at all, turns out 2012 was just really good. When you consider the other years will have had games that benefitted from better weather too.
Of the 18 games, 5 have gotten their lowest attendance in those 5 years in 2013.....
Hudds vs Wigan - Hardly surprising as it was moved forward a day late on and only narrowly lowest.
Leeds vs Salford - The bottom club who are going to struggle massively against a club 1 week away from a WCC.
Salford vs Wigan - Again, Salford are going to struggle this year, hardly surprising.
London vs Wakefield - We've all been through London's troubles before on here.
Bradford vs Castleford - It was on tv, also a strange jump in figures for that particular game
2013 - 7,724.....2012 - 10,906.....2011 - 14,348.....2010 - 8,019.....2009 - 8,971

| 2013 - 183,333 average for the first 3 games
2012 - 225,000 average for the first 10 games
2011 - 148,200 average for the first 10 games (magic weekend not included)
2010 - 183,300 average for the first 10 games
2009 - 150,300 average for the first 10 games
*these are the first 10 games I could find the viewing figures for and not the first 10 games shown, each average would probably be lower otherwise.
Again it seems we just had a really good 2012 again and 2013 is by no means a disaster when comparing to other previous years (thats if you're not too lazy or agenda driven to do so ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif) )

Funny how the best viewed GF recently was the one where those bloody charlatans from Headingley turned up and pinched the title off 'more deserving' teams.........and from what I was lead to believe, Leeds winning from 5th AGAIN was going to ruin the sport ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

To be fair in 2012 those games are Widnes first game back in superleague, Saints first game at the new stadium and Wigan v Leeds are the two biggest supported clubs in the league, which will have had an effect. But still a slightly concerning decrease all the same.

| Hull-v-Warrington was first game of season last year and wasn't televised in the graveyard slot. Bradford last year were dishing out silly tickets, and this is on the same weekend that Bradford City are playing in their first final in a hundred years.
Could you pop on tomorrow and comment on how the Wakey game has the biggest attendance for that fixture please. Thank you. But you won;t.
On the basis that is what you want, can't you just come back in September. As you say, none of this stuff matters.

| 17 out of 23 SL fixtures played this season thus far have witnessed a decrease in attendances compared to the same fixtures last year. Hopefully, the Wakey game at home to Hudds tomorrow will buck that trend.

I think it's to do with better corporate numbers for night games. Also obviously Sky usually have big football matches showing on Sunday afternoons whereas Friday and Saturday night they don't. Because of the WCC we do have a Sunday game on Sky but it's at a much later kick-off of 6pm instead of 3pm to accomodate the football they'll be showing first.

Huddersfield games on a sunday are much better attended. Official figures from the club show that when games are moved from a sunday to other days =#FF000040% of Giants season ticket holders do not attend
Huddersfield are a sunday club without a doubt. Evening KOs are worse. Moving the Wigan game to the saturday cost about 1000 to 1500 of the gate

| The one certainty is that if games are spread over 4 days Friday - Monday, it will have a detremental effect on attendances as it make it far more difficult to plan ahead.
If teams have a fixed time and day for their home matches, the supporters can sort out their weekly routine and plan in advance but, as we are beholden to Sky, we have to dance to their tune and lets be honest, Sky couldn't give a damn whether matchday attendances go up or down, although near full grounds do create a better atmoshphere for the TV.
Most sports will suffer an overall drop in spectators over the next couple of years as food on the table is more important that watching live sport and the country is skint !

| Less than 2,000 at Salford for the visit of Hull KR.
I don't care if it was on TV and played on Sunday evening. That attendance is shocking.
Economic reality starting to hit home?

I do believe the Hull v Wire game was not on TV on a Saturday evening last season which would account for the 2,000 difference on that crowd.
And with Bradford City being in the Final this Weekend would imagine many Bulls/City fans were in London making a weekend of it.
The Salford v KR match is a cause for concern.No Super League game should be attended by less than 2k fans.
