| Quote ="littlerich"You'll get 1,500 per match. If yer lucky. Still, if they're all fawning over the RFL hierarchy you'll be happy.'"
Surely that emphasises my point if you think there are that many fans that "support" the game and the rest come to whinge about everything?
If we had more fans like the 1,500 you think there are, then we'd be in a far better position to grow. If we spent more time and effort on fans that actually like the game and want to see it grow and rid ourselves of the cancer that is the "fans" that want to see the game fail just so they can be right in their pessimism then we'd be a real player.
Strong words. But there's been stronger used for far more unjust reasons, and ones that they use to effectively see the destruction of our game for nothing but apathy. I'm not after a fawning of the governing body, just support for the game and its attempts to better itself. For a site called "RLFans", there aren't many on it.
And for the record, if you really believe that more than 85% of the game's fans aren't happy with the way the game is run, you are vastly misguided and only listening to the people that agree with you and ignoring the rest. 50% of the games fans probably don't even care about the politics and just stick with watching the product. Just because British people tend to moan louder about the things they don't like more than they praise things they do like doesn't mean there are more people that don't like things.

Seems somewhat strange that people who are politically poles apart can share similar views when it comes to the game and what has or has not been of benefit to it.
I'm rather pleased that I'm now considered to be a superleague fairy, despite having seen what the administrations of Fallowfield, Oxley and Lindsay managed to visit on the game. After that lot, I'm amazed we still have a sport to follow.

I agree entirely. I think the fact that the majority of the "negatives" of his career have happened at the back end of it (where he had taken a backseat due to other roles, such as Sport England, and left us with Wood in charge) is an indication of how much we did need him.
I sincerely hope he can be involved in picking his successor, and that this person comes from outside of the game.

No it isn't. The fan that p*sses and moans takes more effort to please and puts more people off going. The other is easier to please and encourages more to go. Big businesses do actually value the latter more than the former, and too right they should.

I'm sorry but that's bollax. I moan a lot about the game. I've also managed to get people to come to matches now and again that don't normally go. I pay my £20 and the club cares not a jot how I view the game.
Apart from on this silly website which we all frequent no-one hears or gives a hoot about our opinions.

Big businesses go out of there way to try and change the "people that moan" into people that dont. All customers are important.

Great news, its a good job that Sky pay for broadcast rights on the basis of attendances as a percentage of population and sponsors and the amount of money brought in are all based on attendances as a percentage of population not just on the amount of people and the amount they spend.
Thank God for that, for a moment i thought that we lived in a world where absolute figures took precedence and Leeds turned over about 4 times more than Castleford even though their attendance/population ratio is only a 6th of that of Castleford and you couldnt wander down to the bank manager and produce a spurious statistic on attendances as a percentage of population and he couldnt hand you over big bangs of money.
Phew.............

Seeing as you liked to quote figures all the time especially your guessing how many people live in cities which actually aren't cities by the way but as you are richard lewis and I claim my 5 dollars we will over look that for the min,the question is why aren't your biiiig clubs really grabbing the rest of the percentage of crowds as suppose to how whitehaven have a very impressive percent.
Also how come the big clubs like wigan and leeds not keep hold of the youngsters they have at there grounds from age of 6 to 16 but the min they have to pay full price vanish from the face of the earth?
If the game was truely growing shouldn't leeds and wigan have 30k plus on by now?
They just seem stuck on the same 13-16k figures is it because of poor health conditions in these places and a high teenager death rate or as one old fan dies a new one is re incarnated?????
Lets spin them numbers lad

I never said they didn't, or that they weren't. I simply disagreed that they had the same value, as they don't.
Big businesses invest more time in getting their happy customers to spend more with them, and less time getting unhappy customers to pay what the happy customers are already paying.

Yes, some companies will actively try and avoid some customers/potential customers never mind address their complaints or even (as would be the analogue to RL and you) reposition there business to attract them.

Ok Smokey again in your world they "may" do that. In the real world companies generally dont try and avoid customers. Mainly due to the fact that...well...they are customers and they are the reason why they are in business.
Avoiding customers = Bad
Resolving complaints for customers = Good
Hope that helps.

This is true. And the ones that don't don't exactly invest that much time in the ones that complain yet don't spend.
They focus in the ones that are happy with what they're offering and try to give then more of it.

Big business understand that unahappy customers tell on average 10 people that they were unhappy and happy people tell 3 why they were happy. Resolve a complaint for a customer and they tend to be more loyal and happy than the previous happy people from mchappyshire. So they invest in resolving complaints and improving service on that back of this so people wont complain in the first place.

I dont know what on earth you are talking about here. So ill just try and re-iterate for you. 5% of the near 800k people in Leeds paying £20 to go to headingley is better than the entire 37k population of Castleford paying £20 to go watch Castleford. This is because attendances as percentages of population are irrelevant useless nonsense.
Just to highlight how irrelevant and useless they are, to match Castlefords percentage of 14.45, out of a population of 800k Leeds Rhinos would need an average 115600. There are only two stadiums in the entire world which can fit that many people in. One in India and one in North Korea. Even if we use the Main Urban subdivision population that whatever you linked to uses (though god knows why) Leeds would still need to average over 64000 people to match Castlefords 5421 on the statistic you quoted.
