Previously in this thread I was critical of the game and SOO overall (particularly the Australian obsession with it being the biggest and best RL on the planet when their National team have lost the last two major international tournament finals)

But... to have a RL game as the most watched programme of the year is outstanding, can simply impossible to imagine for a UK Rugby League fan who looks on with considerable jealousy

......I do not agree. England would struggle against either Qld or NSW......as for Wire!!!! People forget that the vintage origin games.......that had some of the finest players ever to grace a field were often forward battles......punctuated by flashes of skill that swung the game. And look at how much better those players were...... in comparison to ours at the time. NRL defences make what we are used to in SL look like.......touch and pass. Plus if SL was comparable in skill to the NRL......then why have we struggled to find any decent skilled halves in years to play for our country...........?
