Which is a telling point, I think, as although it increases the accessibility for away fans, it also decreases their fanbase by quite a margin IMHO. Fact is, football is king in North Wales. Quite saddened by this, to be quite honest, as I really hoped they'd be a success in South Wales.

| We could have been a success in South Wales I'm sure of it.
The team were already showing signs of lads coming through after 4 years and only 1 in Super League. Now we up roots from that very playing base.
It's good for Northerners to get to yes but I think it has done more harm than good. It is not official news yet but I fear it soon will be.
Will the RFL leave us in Super League next time as in theory this is not expansion as it is 30 miles from the nearest club.

Looks like Leighton Samuels has pulled his money out partly or altogether and the Wrexham FC chairman is the guy who is best equipped to take over.
I think we could still give it a go next year. The sad thing for me is the journey is now 2.5 hours rather than 2.5 minutes from the local.'"
Mebbe they could build a motorway or something?

| Just to add here that because of the move we've probably satisfied more of the criteria as we're still a 20-mile radius from any other club.
I still think the long term sustainability of the club is not there by cutting themselves away from the lifeblood of a club that is youth development.

| If they are serious about this the RFL should kick them out of SL now.
They have only moved to Newport this season, why the jump to Wrexham? It can't be argued that it is the same team this time. Wrexham cannot support a football team, how can they possibly also run and support a Super League franchise? Crowds of 2k anyone?
Kick the sheep out and add some more frogs.

| Although they are going through many difficulties (and they are not alone when it comes to RL clubs and their history) it’s better to sort out things like this early on so as little people as possible are affected.
They are starting from a low point with respect to home support so to top 2000 shouldn’t be too difficult and as the Wrexham chairman is involved he will have a vested interest in wanting the Racecourse used 12 months a year so he will (should?) put effort into promotion of the game in the area and to make the venture more viable.
However, it’s sad for the people they may leave behind in South Wales, hopefully a second Welsh club could be set up in their place to play in the lower divisions so all would not be totally lost in the Bridgend/Newport area.

| It will be about £20 return to Wrexham for me.
I will follow my club as much as possible and hope one day common sense prevails and Crusaders are brought home to South Wales.
I wonder what Widnes and Wire make of all of this as it might have a knock on effect on some of their crowds.

Melbourne had talent scouts in Queensland so really as a club for the whole of Wales there is no reason why development of juniors can’t continue, after all they are not bound to city/town boundaries and rivalries like the Northern English clubs are.

| No they're not but it's a big ask.
It is the equivalent of a Northern English team asking the youngsters to up root. It won't be easy. The other question is if the club are taken over as such then will they keep the development streams going?

| I really hope it isnt true as it would be a great shame for the crusaders to move to wrexham. If it is i would love to see a club set up in newport or bridgend in the lower leagues to keep the interest and the kids playing the great sport

| It virtually is certain to happen.
Very good sources down here say it is a done deal. All we need is confirmation now from the club, of which many have gone into hiding as they've been selling season tickets for 10 games in Newport. It all points to a Wrexham move.

| Quote ="crucrucrusaders"I'm quite confident Crusaders will still be around and come out of the other side of this a better club.
All this talk is based on one article don't forget.
If Leighton Samuel was to walk away then Brewery Field Limited are rumoured to be lining up a takeover. Let's hope so. There is so much potential if this club starts doing the basics right and letting the club grow naturally.
If the worst came to the worst and the club went under then there are enough fans down here to give it another go. Don't write us off just yet though.
'"
I really hope so because i think your future is much more secure in South Wales rather than Wrexham. Is there any rugby league already set up in Wrexham?

| Yeah was nice for a while.
Just let's get something straight though when in years to come you crticise the club that used to be.
The fans, coaches and players did not make it fail.
It was the assclown management.
Oh well, looks like it's back to Union for the hundred or so teams and several hundred newly registered players of league.
And back to Union for me too.
Was nice for a while guys.

Why? Can you really see any of their fans deserting them to follow Wrexham or whatever?
So another Welsh experiment has failed and I take no satisfaction from saying that. It's the supporters I feel sorry for.
One can only assume that dropping the "Celtic" prefix recently was a precursor to the club leaving Wales.

Gutting post. Yet the majority on here are all too keen to kick you when you're down.
Good news for Welsh rugby union though.

| Sincerely hope that those left behind in the south will consider forming a club of their own on community lines (Bridgend Crusaders or whatever) and concentrate on being the heart of their region and providing opportunities for local kids to play and watch sport, and most of all forget about Super League until they're playing in front of 10,000 every week and winning the Championship Grand Final 70-0 every year.

Take the chip of your shoulder. The majority take no pleasure to see fellow RL fans suffer.
It's the RFL who bears the brunt of the criticism for this farce for plonking them in SL in the first place when they were barely out of nappies.
And yes, flatcappers will say 'we told you so'. Maybe they were not so stupid after all.

Good plan. In fact I think we should add this as criteria for any Championship club applying for an SL licence in the next round.
