The problem is it's been not so much fresh as just plain hot air so far. Hopefully by the time next season kicks off he'll have put some of these ambitions into action and we'll see if Salford can make a push for the top 8.

Griffin & Whitehead have signed now, their better players in Shannon McPherson, Marc Sneyd & Martin Gleeson have signed longer term deals too.

It's slowly building at Salford, I think people were expecting an Abramovich signing spree but I think they're quietly going about their business.

I don't think he would want to do that when the rich racing fraternity will be very aware of his quotes and publicity, and he is wanting to purchase/get involved in another sport by his interest in a football club.

I would have thought the line up at his press conference on taking over Salford would silence the doubters - 2 people from Down Under and a 3rd arriving later - hopefully,the person to take over the business side of Salford should silence the doom 'n' gloomers and the nasties.

I think they'll be much stronger next year but I can't see them challenging for the top 4 as he has promised. That is going to take some time - look how long it took Warrington to get to that stage.

I agree with all that - but I remember a thread on here with some fans stating big announcements (plural) "in 24 hours". Whether that was from the club, the media or just excitement I don't know, but nothing happened.

I'd rather he just kept quiet, let the media and fans speculate and get excited and then make announcements when he's ready.

The only announcement Koukash has ever stated is 9th August 2013, where before our game vs Leeds he will announce at least six new signings for next season.

Critique all you like, but when has rugby league ever had as much national press space from a club that is currently sat bottom of the league. Can you imagine what it would be like if we are to become successful? Even this week, he had horses running at Royal Ascot, I dont think rugby league have ever had a representative mixing in those kind of circles before.

He is a breath of fresh air to the usual boring predictable Super League news were use too, where Warrington, Wigan, Hull FC, Leeds and St Helens snap up all the best players available and make most (if any) of the stories within the press.

If I remember correctly that was a supporter of another club just doing a little leg pulling.

I don't recall the thread, but I'm sure it existed. By 'some fans', I strongly suspect it would have been Red League and maybe one other. He's never met a rumour he couldn't swallow, hook, line and sinker. We're not all like that. Most of us just wait quietly for things to happen, and generally don't get involved in all the speculation, apart from occasionally responding to fans of other clubs who are more obsessed with us than we are.

Yes, I think Red League does you no favours.

I have to applaud Marwan for the amount of publicity he is generating through all of this. I hope there are people attending this event from the mainstream media outlets and it actually gets rugby league out there for all to see for the RIGHT reasons for a change.

I had to laugh at the tongue in check picture on the Reds/Devils website with a player holding the SL trophy. Perception is everything. Someone new to the sport may think Salford are the current champions. Genius.

Sounds intriguing, though I'd be more inclined to be interested if it was screened live somewhere. No doubt despite the announcement, the prescence of the BBC in the host Dave Woods, the announcement will get a 30 second slot somewhere on 5 Live, and a 30 second slot on Sky Sports Football News in between two 15 minute slots; one discussing Wayne Rooney's toilet habits and the other discussing what Gareth Bale had for his lunch and if it was Spanish related.

He seems to have touched a nerve with some people, but I think anyone who raises awareness of our great game is doing a terrific job. Even without his money Salford gave us a real game last week, so once the new arrivals are settled in, we will hopefully see the Reds returning to the days of Watkins et al.

It'd be worth the while granting Salford a total salary cap exemption, if only to annoy fans of all those SL clubs who have been enjoying the fruits of the current salary-capped stitch-up.

We might even get some real world class stars of the game (even if they are all at Salford) playing in SL instead of the current dross on offer at all the clubs.
