Tough call that one. Personally thought his hands went to the side of the ball with the Hudds player managing to shuffle it dead. One of those were the on field call makes all the difference.

Huddersfield forwards have played well, especially in the first 12 minutes, but it is in the backs that Catalans have the clear superiority. It is Catalans backs who have made the difference. For that reason the half time score of Catalans 18 Huddersfield 6 is a fair reflection of the game. Had Brayden Williame and Samisoni Langi possessed a little more speed then the Catalans advantage would have been even greater.

The only way that Huddersfield can win is if the Catalans forwards relax.

Catalans purchase of Matt Whitley has been a very astute decision by Steven McNamara. He is quality and class in attack. He will cause an interesting selection head ache for McNamara when Jodie Broughton and David Mead are back in contention for selection.

I dont think it will be too much of a selection headache. Both Broughton and Mead would leave Whitley standing and either/ both of them will be in the starting 13 when fit.

O’brien And Roberts are playing in this game and Roche would only play if their was injuries so can’t claim he’s a big loss

So the truth is that Huddersfield had seven (7) first choice selections missing.

Catalans were missing Gregory Bird, Benjamin Garcia, Jodie Broughton and David Mead. That is four (4) first choice selections missing.

So Huddersfield were only slightly worse off and thus their injuries made not such a huge difference.

Played half a game with one half back and some absolutely awful decisions from the ref but I think we desvered to lose wasn’t a consistent performance from us

Most of the French internationals I waxed lyrical about were forwards: Remi Casty, Julien Bousquet, Benjamin Jullien, Jason Baitieri, Michael Goudemand, Alrix da Costa and Mickael Simon. Among the backs Antoine Gigot is a French international. That makes eight (icon_cool.gif French internationals.

Yes jean I can count eight(icon_cool.gif french internationals you were waxing lyrical about, unfortunately only one(1) of those were in the backs (Antoine Gigot) so the rest were made up of British and non French players, so why are you bigging up these French international forwards that were made to look ordinary by what was a virtually second string shudds team.

gaskell and frawley played two pre season games together at half back, worked well and was looking forward to them starting the season but gaskell is injured so we had to put in our 4th choice half back young farrell who hasnt played a sl game.

add into the mix that mcintosh also played full back pre season so had to switch him back to wing and bring grix out of retirement to play full back!

also mcgillvary and cudjoe out... could go on

its a disaster start.

You say brought out of retirement yet when I spoke to Grix when he first made the move he told me although Woolford did not see him as first choice in one position that he would definitely be playing in 2019, I posted this on your forum and was laughed off for suggesting it.
