Harlequins will never be thrown out cos Sky will pull the plug if there is not a Super League team in London.
You have to have a token Welsh/French team in because hey they would do the same in every other sport in the world and then relegate the team that does not actually finish bottom or is it just Rugbt League??
They need to find more ways of making this sport more embarrassing than it already is at the moment.'"

| Celtic will take years before a view can be taken as to whether they are a success or not. My only feeling is that, judging by the squad they put together, the whole thing was set up a bit on the cheap.
To me, Quins score very highly on every measure except crowds - which aren't crash hot at a number of other clubs either. If crowd figures were that important, Salford would never have got in to SL.
It's interesting that Les Cats seem to be getting less criticism now because they are mid table and have a healthy crowd average. Amazing what difference a crowd makes.

| Barry McKenzie is a shıt 70s australian film with the "world famous" (in australia) actor Barry Crocker about an aussie living in London. Allegedly it was a comedy. What an apt choice of name.
Well thought out by this wind up merchant.

| How anyone can criticise Catalans is beyond me. They have been playing RL there for 70 years.
If it was not for the Nazis / vichy and the second world war it would have been the dominant game in France

| Quote ="Barry_McKenzie"Yes people say RL has to expand.
Yes people say its good for Rugby League to have these teams playing.
Yes people have said that without expansion RL will die.
Garbage.
Over here Rugby league is traditionally a sport that has only really been popular in the NORTH OF ENGLAND. Same as in Australia rugby league is really only popular in Queensland and NSW. Remember the Perth Western Reds? Or the Adelaide Rams??
No. And neither does anyone else.
The time has come to accept that Rugby league will never catch on in the south of France, South Wales, London, Adelaide, Perth or in any other area outside of the heartlands enough to make it financially viable to carry on.
London have tried since 1980 to kick start things down south. 3 name changes later and a big bail out from the RFL still hasn't seen much of an improvement.
South Wales has always been a Rugby Union area. Always. League will NEVER have the pull that union does.
I'm not a Widnes fan but there is no way they should have been overlooked for a SL franchise.
The RFL should stick with making the game stronger in the areas that count and not try and expand.
Expansion is not the future of Rugby League. They should pump more money into promoting what they already have in the areas that truly matter.'"

| Quote ="JB Down Under"err Adelaide averaged over 13,000 and had the biggest membership of any NRL club so sorry but there was obviously interest there if we had perservered with it. Considering we have had no RL profile here we have produced a damn site more than Victoria who has had an NRL team and SOO games for over a decade.
Cory Patterson, Matt Peterson, Daniel Holdsworth, Lee Te Mari, Jon Green all have recently played NRL and came through the WARL for starters. We have another handful in NSW/Q'land cup and Toyota cup. For a place that has been ignored for over a decade thats not bad going.
ps When was the last time Cronulla got a crowd over 20,000? They have only ever once averaged over 14,000 in their entire 40 year+ history. Ironically one of their biggest home crowds ever was in 1991 when they played a home game in Perth!
Some people believe that our game isn't good enough to take to the uneducated and get them interested. personally I think it is the best game in teh world and if you sell it right there is no reason RL can't be popular in any city in any country. You do realise that EVERY club in EVERY city started at some point in time and had to grow to where it is now don't you? Cronullas first season they averaged less than 6,000!'"

Our away game at Celtic got more fans at the game than our game at Wakefield. I bet that our away game at Catalans will get a bigger crowd than basically any gate at our away games bar Leeds and Wigan.
We also got a bigger home attendance for our game against the Catalans than for our home games against Wakey, Wire, Saints, Leeds and Salford

There isn't a distinction between nationality and race when it comes to racist abuse. You can't abuse Pakistanis and then claim "It's a nationality not a race" and likewise with Aussies.

Erm, yes you can. IIRC there was a case a couple of years back where a welshman objected to being called something unpleasant and it failed.
As an aside, I'm pretty sure that you can call someone a 'pakistani', or even the abbreviation (as far as I recall) but its when you call them a f***ing one that your problems will start.
'Pakistani' is no more racist than 'Frenchman'.Simple as that.

| Scooternick, a good point. At Crusaders, most visiting fans call us sheepshaggers as if that's a bad thing. It is only abuse if the recipient is offended. Certain people are easily offended (usually religious folks of one sort or another) and the PC squad jump into action to avenge their contrived upset. When stereotypical insults are used, it usually only goes to show a lack of imagination by the knuckle dragger using it. For instance on the terraces the red-faced angry folks building up for a tirade against the Crusaders will almost always only use sheepshaggers as an insult or a variation thereof utilising an additional curseword (F***ing sheepshaggers)

| stop wasting you precious seconds everyone. the guy is from a small suburb of Sydney. His team is one of the worse supported and most hated in the comp, they have no fans, a run down ground, financially are deep in debt and are limping along near the foot of the table. As if all that isn't bad enough their players are scum, their CEO was as dodgy as a street salesman and they are coached by Ricky Stuart! He can see the writing on the wall, and that writing is that there is no place in top grade RL for clubs like his. In years to come as the game grows small clubs like Cronulla will be forced to drop back to their natural level and play out their existence in the NSW cup in front of a couple of thousand die hards. Sad for some but that is progress for you!

Maybe it's time to ask the Sheep themselves what they think? Nobody has considered their feelings. They might be the recievers but they actually might like it.

Humouring the troll nature of the thread, Trinity have targeted the CC home match and tried to make it attractive to people who ordinarily wouldn't have turned up.

The act may not appeal to the older generation of RL fans but I don’t doubt the youngsters will be especially excited about these guys turning up. Also the £10 entry fee is an £8 reduction on adult prices therefore it should entice stay away support who feel that £18 is too expensive.

| Yawn!!!
When will people stop whinging about a team NOT from the North of England being in Superleague?? Seriously?! It's getting pretty boring now.
Admittedly the competition would be no more competitive or worse off removing the "outside boys" from SL....but why shut up shop and retreat back into the 1980's shell??? Removing the teams that are in the "expansion" areas would remove vast amounts of interest in Rugby League. Just because these teams don't have weekly sell out crowds, it does not in any way shape or form mean that their inclusion isn't having a positive effect on playing numbers and casual fans.
Honestly, we need to take the blinkers off here! I'm not having a swipe at any particular person or club etc...but the more regions this great game reaches the better for everyone!! I'm sure it must be those (and I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush) at the clubs who "just missed out" on a SL licence that are creating this fuss?!!
Anyway, thats my two cents...adios
