| It was a shocking attentance at the Gnoll, but, even more shocking was that after getting their club a £40k fine, a minority of Cas fans still continue with the homophobic chants???
Truly unbelievable!

To be fair it's still to this day a disgrace that clubs likes yourselves missed out on SL whilst experiment clubs like this get in. A Keighley club developed over the years would be getting 5000-6000 every home game now in SL.
Whereever in Wales it is played, the Crusaders should be getting a lot more then that for a game.

So, a club that has been around since 1876 would be getting 5-6000 fans.......fair point, though most of them would probably be Bradford fans To be honest roofs.....Oldham had a go and failed, as did halifax and leigh, workington etc etc etc...... but you think another small team would fair better....er, OK.

| First of all,
There was not 1495 in the ground, Whatsoever, I would say 600-800. Tops.
As for the homophobic chants, I didnt hear anything too bad been sung. Both sets of fans sang about the 40k, Cas fans asked for a wave from GT, And i think for a split second asked "Wheres your boyfriend gone" Wrong, But it wasnt as bad as people are making out, Or i sure didnt hear it anyway.
I did think to say how embarassing the attendence was, And how poor the game was, The atmosphere wasnt too bad.
What an advert for the game though, Seeing crowds like that.

| Too be honest there is a little point in playing these games in Neath. Just keep them all in Wrexham and let SWS develop neath.

But Keighley were never even given a chance to fail......
Whereas other clubs in non-RL areas have had 30 years of chances (and a lot of preferential treatment? ), but they're still not working.

Wrong way to look at it - they won the second tier title (twice running IIRC) but were never given a chance in the top tier. Still an absolute disgrace and always will be, that club had potential.

Londons SL team, in whatever form, Quins or Broncos has worked on a development level......and Quins now have the most english squad in SL.........no preferential treatment (that's saved for other clubs in the north east who need extra australians to fill their squad)
Yep...shi77y crowds and financially a mare.......but they are still there.......upsetting the principled masses of East Hull
'"
If it's worked on a developmental level and (as we're always told) more schools in London then ever before are playing RL, why does this not lead to more young fans coming through the gates? Somethings going wrong somewhere you can't deny that. Actually it's not a case of things been wrong, you could be top of SL and your crowds wouldn't really be any higher IMO, there just is not the interest in RL in London and there never will be. Not once when I went to London last month did I see a Quins shirt (a Quins RU top mind), whereas during a 5 minute walk round here you see Hull & Rovers shirts, car scarves, stickers etc, that's the difference my friend.
Erm, short memory haven't we - Austrailians to fill the squad? Are you forgetting the early days of SL when the majority of your squad was Aussie.
Re our squad, we gave another local lad his debut on Sat, whilst young Sam Latus got his first SL try under his belt, all going fine on the developmental side thanks.

The only way to look at it. Are you suggesting that winning the Division II title in that year should have ensured promotion to Super League, when even finishing below 10th in Division I didn't get you in?

Yes, I think if you win the second tier competition two years running then absolutely you deserve a chance in the top tier. Didn't they also win at least one Premiership trophy in that period too?
Tb surely it is fair to say that Keighley should have been given a chance in SL. In 1995 they were absolutely on fire, they had a fantastic team, great home support and a strong away following too. Will never forget them coming to CP on Good Friday 1995 and they literally took over our East Stand, there was something there for sure.
In SL now they would be an established club with a good following, + easily accessible for so many nearby clubs' fans too like Leeds, Bradford, Hudds, Cas etc. Keighley in SL would have contributed more then what London have, that I'll always believe.

| Hear we go again, the same old drivel shouted out by the same people. Lets put the argument right. Crowds are nothing to do with the argument, potential crowds are, that is why clubs like Featherstone, Barrow, Whitehaven, & Workington plus many others from small towns have no chance at all of becoming succsessful super league clubs, Even the club I follow (Robins) will struggle If the game becomes as popular as many think it deserves (or at least hope it wil) lf the game starts to draw crowds of 15K to 20K then a lot of clubs out side big citys will fail. The only way smaller clubs without large fan base will survive is if the game fails to grow & they stay in by default. The main thing that prevents the game growing is lack of top quality sponsorship as we are not perceived to be a National sport. The reason Union is doing better with an inferior game is that it has a very high National profile with an International & European compatition that generates lots of cash & sponsorship with the media coverage. Lets face it us Northern folk could not fill a half built ground for a cup final last week so why do we expect the Crusaders to have 20K at their games?

| Rugby league in wales works in the north! The crusaders are a new found club in wrexham and their support has been very very very healthy in wrexham for a new club. Keep their games in wrexham and get rid of south wales, rugby league is just never going to take off in south wales.
