bahhh, cop out, they are young blokes and like all young blokes in all walks of life, they like to like off some steam.

they are very well paid athletes who should be in bed recovering and considering what they need to do to not lose again, not out on the pish! If they want to "let off steam" go and be a brickie or a plumber.

More like they've had 4 months of slogging it out to keep fit and they played their game and lost, they decide to have a few beers and something we know nothing about yet has happened.

It has long been my rule of thumb that professional rugby players are simply the big daft lads you met at school who were useless at anything other than sport.

Over the many years that I have held this opinion I have seen nothing to disprove my "big daft lads" theory.

It's only a shock when when teams go out drinking after defeats, that trouble with their own supporters doesn't happen more often.

You need to up the ante just like the NRL/AFL/NFL and Soccer world wide for the media to take notice.

As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity (ok ok we know certain things are bad) but these sports that are in the news all the time for their off field dramas are fueling the games.

We mightn't like it, but it's what the press love.

Sport is like the male version of a soapy these days, forget neighbours and home and away or Coronation street, the soap for males (mainly) is what their sports stars are getting up to.

You guys mightn't like it, but it's the truth.

This little Les Catalans thing might look bad to some, but others might never ever take notice of RL, but as soon as they come across Les Catalans playing on TV one night and they hear their name, they'll go, that's them dirty frogs, and they might just have a look and like what they see, or they could watch and want the pommy side they are playing to beat the crap out of them, thus get a new fan.

I know it's not the pc way to look at it, but that's how it is I'm afraid.

Sorry, but there is such a thing as bad press........and because RL in the UK is marketed as a "family sport" things like this don't help. I wouldn't want 30 Milwall fans trecking to the stoop to jeer the french, same way I wouldn't want anybody to think that all Giants players are (potentially) rapists...........

The UK media may like these stories, but I can assure you that the MAJORITY of the people who read them are appauled and rightly so.

I can understand that mate, we all hate the bad news, but the SL needs exposure and the media are not falling over themselves to grant it unless some "bad stuff" happens.

I'd rather see them report all the good stuff, but it ain't gonna happen.

The press got the timing wrong: The players were arrested at their hostel at 2:30 after the events. It is not clear when the event took place in the first place, but the players were not in a bar at 2:30am.

Also CCTV evidence seems to clear the players who would have been in the middle of a row provoked by some young local lads under the influence of alcohol.

Obviously none of this will be in the press...
