AFL is a s**t game to watch.
it doesnt compare to the nrl.
thats why i dont take it seriously.

the AFL over blow their own importance in australia whilst the NRL just goes about its job.
AFL as a sport needs to find some humility

| I find most games compared to RL boring to watch, but then I guess if I was brought up with a different sport I would probably say the same thing about a different sport.
In order of snooziness or just plain dislike to watch:
1. RU - RL without the evolution
2. Cricket - why oh why do people watch this game?
3. Soccer - overpaid nancies that couldn't hit a barn door from 20yds
4. Golf - I love playing but watching it is sleep inducing
I can watch AFL for about 20mins then I lose interest. AFL is better to watch live than on TV, just.

| Dally talks hit from behind - what is the difference from a three man tackle when the ball carrier is unable to defend himself and unaware of the impending hit? This happens 50 times a game in RL.
For me the ability to kick a ball over that distance with that level of accuracy is unsurpassed in RL - we marvel at anyone who kicks a 40/20 this quality of kicking is common place in Rules.
Again we marvel at the likes of Folau/Inglis and their ability under the high ball - again the quality of catch isn't a rarity like it is RL it is a basic requirement of the game.
Anyone who has tried to run at speed and bounce a rugby ball at the same time will testify to how difficult it is.
I am not for one minute saying it is a better/worse game than RL - just it is different and anyone who says the game is devoid of skill is simply myopic

the 2 essential skills of AFL are marking the ball and kicking straight.
their players cant do either properly.
take your average RL fullback and his catching skills kill AFL.
and then there are all the other skills like tackling etc.
but you keep talking up AFL

You talk about tackling - this is the basic requirement in RL - in SOO 2 there were over 50 missed tackles in a game that is the pinnacle of quality and intensity in RL so you could say the players can't even do that?
Passing is a basic requirement in RL how many missed passes do you see in a game? in fact how many poor passes do you see in a game?
So to talk so simply about a sport is to do it and yourself no favours. At the elite level the intensity forces mistakes even Tiger Woods who is in total control of what he does ie no opponents trying to knock his head off makes mistakes and screws up simple shots.
I really enjoy watching rules not more than RL but I can see the skill element in the game - you are entitled to your view I am entitled to mine.

RL skills :
1. tackling.
2. passing
3. catching balls in the air
4. positional play
5. kicking
its because RL produces such well rounded athletes that union and AFL chase them
when RL signs an AFL player come back and talk.

How many RL players have signed for the AFL?
How many RL players actually convert to RU not that many - how many youngsters who start play RU convert to RL - significantly more than ever move the other way.
If you look at Rules other than tackling the Rules players possess all the other skills you mentioned above and in some facets their skills are way in advance of anything you see in RL.
As I said they are different games with different skills to completely dismiss it is as I said myopic

| Six teams remain in contention for the NRL premiership and Paul Vautin and Andrew Voss will be joined by Peter Sterling and Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten to talk about who they think will win this weekend's knockout finals matches and why. Also, David Gallop joins the panel to talk about the state of the game, a live performance by Jimmy Barnes, and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan talks to the boys.
