Reading the comments that despite giving away thousands of tickets and the offer of free food and alcohol they still didn't have a full house. it looks like the $200 million that they have spent has been wasted already. Demetriou will be filthy over this. i give them 5 years at most in the west before the go bust or have to relocate.
the people in the know said that western Sydney would be the Wateloo for Afl in Australia and already its looking like that. the more money they spend promoting the game in the west the happier i will be as i know all that money is going down the drain, and with luck send the 1 country game with no serious following outside of the southern states back to Victoria for good.

I can't see the Rebels getting a bigger crowd this year either, the tahs would be the biggest crowd puller for the Aussie s15 teams, maybe the Reds might get a decent crowd in Melbourne, but I can't see the Force and Brumbies packing out the ground.

And if they keep getting smashed, god knows what the crowds will be like against the SA sides.

The claim by union that 4 Billion watched the last union world cup is very creative accounting on their part.
33 Million watched the union cup final world wide according to their own figures. their was 48 games played at the last union world cup and if every game was watched by 33 Million , which their wasn't, its still a long long way short of 4 billion.

ive done the maths and basically the real figure is 700 million, and thats still allowing for them multiplying the real figures by 4.

but 700 million doesnt sound as good as 4 billion

i guess the only thing that stopped them was the population of earth otherwise theyd have aimed higher

yes your right when you suggest that they do count the amount watching a game 4 times. after 20 minutes at half time at 60 minutes and full time. they are the only sport as far as i know who count the TV viewing figures this way.

yeah but even counting the viewers 4 times it only comes out to 700 million.

thats how far off the truth they are.

the real figure is only 175 million, and thats a cumulative figure for every game played

using the union method 3.3 million people watching an origin game becomes 160 million!
