| Thaler by an absolute mile. Easily the most consitent of the lot of them. And consistently good.
Always said previously Ganson, and he is still up there, but because he refs so much differently to the rest of the pack, it kind of frustrates me, and must frustrate players also.

| Silverwood, easily the most consistent, probably followed by Thaler. Ganson is still prone to ruining games with his attention-seeking, Uncle Albert is way too erratic, missing the obvious and changing his mind, Bentham is good but his Wigan track record means I can't vote for him, Childs is improving but too whistle-happy.

| It's a tough job and anybody is going to make the odd blunder now and again. However Alibert is currently the best by some distance. After that Bentham and Thaler, I don't see what people like in Silverwood. Ganson is far too concerned with himself and Child sadly doesn't appear to have a clue.

No, for letting the players play the game and not being petty. Fans turn up to watch the players play Rugby, not the refs ref it.

Generally i turn up to watch a fair game, not one dragged to the lowest common denominator by a ref allowing the game to "flow"

But it was a fair game.
Just like the Leigh-Catalans game last week was a fair game and the ref was the star of the show blowing up every 2 minutes.

It was only fair in terms of Silverwood ignoring all offences by both sides. It was one of the most gutless performances I have seen for some time. Obviously didn't want a bashing in the Aussie media.

That is usually down to the players and how they want to play!!!
If they want to play you will never see the match officials, if they don't then the whistle, etc is activated.
Once the players get it right and stop trying to bend/break the rules then the game is far better.

| Child was the ref at the DW last night for Wigan v Quins. Some of the decisions he came up with were nothing short of baffling. In the first half Sam Tomkins kicked for touch and it hit Child and bonced away over to the wing and he gave a scrum with a Wigan head and feed! Bizarre. He then realised his error and spotted a phantom knock-on at the next play-the-ball and gave Quins the head-and-feed. The man's a clown

If you are baffled by the Laws, may I suggest you read them on the RFL website. www.therfl.co.uk/a_guide_to_the_ ... icial_laws
Perhaps you may then understand (or not) what is going on!!!

| Off topic but I've always thought Sky should sort out a red button service so I could turn off the commentators and just hear the ref's mike
I think thats a cracking idea, how workable it would be with the players in the heat of the moment i don't know, but I would much rather listen to the ref than either Ernie or Bert.
I voted for Ganson, I think he is by far the best, but, when he makes a mistake you know it's going to be a big one.
Some of the stuff he comes out with to the players is brilliant.

| I though the question was Best ref not who gives the best comedy value. How anyone can vote Ganson really is beyond me.
Though Silverwoods reffing of the Anzac game was spot on.

| I am really suprised that Silverwood is getting votes. Some of the most niggly irritating pedantic ref performances I've ever seen have been by him.
