It's funny that over the last decade or so, Warrington have tried to get a rivalry going with Wigan and failed, and now they've moved on to try and get one with Saints and they don't seem to be interested in Wire either.

And given just how much Warrington fans have been mouthing off of late, if their side don't complete the treble this season, it will be a major embarrassment for them.

As for tonight's game, I fancy Dire to win by 4-6 points.

Warrington doing a great job on the marketing side IMO. Usually take about 1500 to Saints but tonight they have sold 4500. I wish other SL clubs would try and market themselves in a similar fashion.

Anyway, Saints win for me.

Funny you should bring this up, because while Widnes went their first 103 years without winning a championship and Saints went their first 80 years having only won one championship and no Challenge Cups, the big North West rivalries in this sport were Wire v Wigan and Swinton v Salford.

You do talk some rubbish.

The club are doing a great job at the mo with the promotion (not the Widnes type of promotion Jonno the great). We had close to 12k for the London game, though c.2000 were kids paying £1. What helps, as well, is the optimism based on some of our recent performances and new signings. If we can become more successful, there's loads of potential I feel for bringing in some larger attendances. Go back 10 years or so, I think it was the last saints v wire game at Knowsley road, we brought about 7k on the back of an exciting side and hope to rid the monkey off our back. Unfortunately, we lost in a close contest- again!

Tough game to call.

I'll go for Saints on the fact the concede less penilties and make less errors. And they have home advantage. But Warrington are running hot at the moment and Austin is in fine form.

Quality contest so far, these two are clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

Even under the old system it probably isn’t a try. Under the on field decision it definitely isn’t being overturned.

No problem with that decision. If you think that’s the worst no call ever you don’t know Rugby League...which admittedly is a fair assumption.

Honestly Stuart Cummings makes it up as he goes along to defend the on field refs decision.

Regularly. He must have done this 3 times at least tonight.

Enjoyable performance by saints.

Was a good even contest for 30 mins. Warrington never recovered from the sin binning (which was correct) and the effort and points they lost in that period.

To be fair. I’ve enjoyed the build up this week from 2 clubs with an obvious mutual respect so no gloating from me as I’m sure next time the scores will be reversed.

Knowles had a blinder for us. Utterly dominated their pack but despite the score line I felt their backs looked more dangerous

Saints excellent and we'll deserved winners.

Main difference for me, is the value of having a defensive line moving up quickly. We weren't allowed to play and credit to saints. A good lesson for us and one we'll hopefully learn from.

Lomax Man of the Match tonight?

Along with his international selection and part of his salary paid by the RFL then he clearly has incriminating photos of somebody at Red Hall.

Same way they stayed on the field after assaulting Roberts last year.

We lost our composure when we went down to 12 in the first half and then lost our ‘umph’ and never got it back.

Lazy attempt at a tackle that ruined the game for us by Cooper and Saints capitalised on that with a good performance.
