| ...are Ellis, Houghton and Solomona.
I think Houghton will win it for the sheer amount of hype around him and team Sky well and truly behind him.

3 outstanding talents.
Surprised Greg Minikin isn't in there though. Johnstone will get it for me.

I'd give it Whitley out of those 3.

And I'd like Whitley to win YPOTY. Cracking prospect and I hope he continues to get better.

| Houghton for mine.
Would have chosen Gale over Solomona too, but I guess he has broken the try scoring record!

You are wrong it's 21 at the start of the season plus a lot of players would of had their 22nd birthday in that time to which counts.

| Nothing against the three candidates but Chris Hill should really have been nominated. The man has been immense all season as he has for the previous 4, in which time I've only seen him have 1 average game.....in every other he's fluctuated between very good and excellent. The best prop in SL by some distance and in the top 3 in the world.

Fair comment, Ellis has dropped off in a few games but Chris Hill is Mr Consistent and gives 100% in every game. Difficult to separate them but Chris Hill would have been a good shout for the short list.

Chris Hill is probably a victim of his own high standards over the last few years that he doesn't get noticed as much as he is pretty much always up there on performance.

Very true, James Roby had a few seasons like that. For me I would say Danny Houghton though plays tough for the full 80 minutes and a good example of Man of Steel.

presumably the OP is ranking him behind bromwich and graham. i can't argue with that but i would also have him behind the likes of woods, fifita, scott and Waerea-Hargreaves. he's the best prop in our game though taylor is pushing him close

Danny Houghton has been quite simply magnificent all this season

| How on earth can John Bateman not be on the short list.
Even with eight week internal club suspension, he has still been the most outstanding player of the season.
But that the RFL for you, as proved by their choice of a winner in past seasons.

| Am I right in thinking the players now vote for the MoS from this shortlist, but can't vote for a player from their own club?
If so it gives Solomona a distinct advantage as the entire Hull Fc squad only have the option of voting for him.
And if the Cas players want Solomona to win, they might all vote for Ellis as Houghton is the clear favourite.
