In all seriousness, if he keeps his head screwed on, and those swinging arms away, what a formidable set of halves Cas will have.

The faux-Frenchman is the only poster on my 'ignore' list - I assume he still insists on using formal given names!

I could understand a deal to the end of the year, but what has he done in the last few years to earn a long deal like that?

Two years isn't a long deal.
He wants to come back to Cas and won't be earning anywhere near the money he was on previously.

Sometimes you just get something that works. Tim Smith at Wakey. Rangi at Cas unfortunately.

It is, if you need to get rid, and although it won't be as much as before he will still command a high salary.

The ball was in Cas court, so no need to offer him that length of deal.

Cas just don't want to be in the same situation as this year where they lost Roberts and Dorn and have had to rely on players out of position because Hampshire is a complete waste of a squad spot.

Chase & Roberts can both play FB or in the halves so it's just a bit more depth. Would trust either of them more than Greg Eden at FB, too.

It might be an initial deal until the end of the season with options to extend, or Cas might have put certain clauses in the contract. Not as black and white as "here you go, there's a two year contract with the same salary as before".

I'd hope they have a few clauses in there.

They should be trying to pursuade Dorn to stay another year, what a great player.

Powelly has tried persuading dorn to stay. He wants to retire and walk away whilst he still can and go back to Oz with his family. In the last 18 months he had a bad facial injury and a 3 month hammy injury. I see logic in him calling it a day.

That's fair enough, what s great player he has been.

Rangi played his best rugby at Cas for sure, and I'm interested to see how he does under Powell, Orr, and Sheridan - three halfback coaches. His statement is quite something..

The best thing Cas ever did was get rid of him to Salford. Their Club blossomed without him. Every Club Chase has been at he creates really big splits in the playing squad. There's no doubting his talent and ability to win games single-handed, but those performances are rare and are counter-balanced by his ego, antics, and disruptive nature. His life away from RL also seems to weigh heavy on his performances and for me he is just too much of a gamble for any Club.

Massive chance that Cas are taking, even though they're familiar with him. Powell will probably be earning his crust trying to make everything work in a team based very much on how hard they work and bond together, and fitting in a special but disruptive talent.

Good luck to all parties involved, but I can only see it ending in tears.

Rangi leaving isn't what made Cas great, Powell was. and Powell only had him for half a season.

Be interesting how they fit Gale, Roberts Chase and Eden in together, Cant see Eden sitting on the wing like he does in the NRL

When Millward was sacked in 2013 Cas were rock bottom of SL . We recovered that season and put some decent results together and weren't far off the playoffs. That was with Powell as coach and chase at 6.

Clearly Cas are struggling for injuries right now so bringing him back to partner Gale in the halves makes sense.
And who knows, maybe an off-season under Powell's wing could be good for Rangi. There's no denying that he has talent, someone just needs to screw his head on for him.
