| We got nothing in the second half, so many second efforts when tackles had been completed that were not given which meant we couldn't get field position

| If that was in SL it would have been given a try. I think England were far too conservative in the second half, and although we got zip from the officials, the blame has to land on the players for not taking the game to Australia.

I do agree we tried to shut up shop in second half. But that was a try and Australia just never got penalised.

We knew that was going to be the case though. We needed to make sure we didn't leave it in the referee's hands because we wouldn't get the calls.

| The premise leading to the introduction of the video ref was too many "important" errors (as if there are any other kind) by the referee.
Given that I've seen an appalling number of bad decisions by the video ref I no longer see any need to waste the money.

| Don't think that was even a 50/50 call, after watching it 5/6 times it looked to be a clear cut try. That felt like a kick in the guts, I am stunned that they can disallow it. The 'excuse' for not awarding it was that the ball was rising when he touched it but there is clear evidence to show that the ball was flat on the ground when Hall's finger hit it.
So angry!!

| IMO a shocking decision by the video ref, however if England had continued in second half what they were doing in the first half I doubt the convicts would have had to rely on that dubious decision.

| Hall got downward pressure.....yet they got a 20 metre restart as Hall was judged to have touched the ball last?.
England will be kicking themselves for playing conservative for 20 mins 2nd half....but we have victory taken away from us by a diabolical call at the end.

Maybe earlier.

| Tbh the two penalties on half way on 4th tackles for laying on were the game changers. Australia fluffed it first time but got given another go where they scored and the momentum was all their way. Considering the flops and wrestling by the Australians it was farcical to penalise england only and this killed us.
Whichever england officials agreed to australian ref and VR wants castrating (that's if theyve got any balls!)

Inglis' third finger is on the ball. It's in plain sight.
Might be no more than a touch. But I've seen them given.
All talk of being robbed does us no favours. We were outplayed for 34 minutes in the second half.

| Obviously I am looking at it from the point of view of a disappointed England fan but that incident for me highlights that we need to have a strict policy of neutral officials only. It's not as if we couldn't have done so either. We have all seen the replays of it and the ball was clearly flat on the ground with Hall's finger on it, it should have been a try. We can never know for sure whether a neutral official would have awarded a try or whether had it been Australia rather than England looking to tie the match that the try would have been given. However that the decision that would likely have put Australia out of the tournament or kept them in it was in the hands of an Australian is ridiculous. With a non-neutral official making such an important decision in the favour of his own nation it is always going to smell fishy. Had a Frenchman made that call we would still be disappointed of course but there wouldn't be the same opportunity for (or feeling of) suspicion of home bias.
Publicly bemoaning the decision would do us no favours and credit to the players and coach for not doing so but hopefully there will be some done in private so that we can get a rule change to require use of neutral officials from now on.

| The shot before the close up, this would suggest the ball is moving downward when he puts his ginger on it.
