I think he's alluding to the fact that we will be unable to spend the salary cap next season based on last year's income, and we certainly don't want to go down the route of others who have spent more than they can actually afford on players. You can bet your bottom dollar that the RFL wouldn't be saving Castleford if we were to get into a similar situation.

The RFL didn't save the Bulls, they did what they could to help them but it didn't succeed, the Bulls would have been liquidated at midnight if the OKB hadn't bought the club. OKB saved the Bulls. At a huge cost.

Any period of time bought is buying time. I'd have thought that wasn't too difficult a concept, even for a blindfolded man wearing blinkers and fingers stuffed in ears going lalalalalala. No period of time is "saving". Either a buyer saves the club or it folds. DUMB question.

Back on topic, is there anything to suggest that Castlefords "precarious" poisition is in any way similar to that of the Bulls.

I would think it is more similar to Hull KR in that this season they will not spend the full cap and need some extra funding to come in to make it a viable company to run. I could well be wrong but I hope I'm not though.

How embarrassing that the usual suspects have got themselves all giddy with excitement at the possibility of one of our clubs struggling. Its even more embarrassing that said club, isn’t struggling quite as much as the poorly reported article first makes out.

When one of the "top brass" at a club publicly states that they are in a "precarious position", people want to find out whats going on and what better place to find out than on a public forum.
Castleford is a hot bed of Rugby League and although they are not one of the "big boys", RL in Cas is of far more importance than in some other areas.
Let's hope that, as some are suggesting, these are tactics being used to frighten their supporters into buying season tickets.

If you compare attendances at Cas, compared with the population of the town then I think this is totally justified.
For instance, Leeds may acheive attendances of 15,000, from a population of 450,000 ish Cas average is around 8000 from 40,000 ish.
Of course this doesn't take account of away support or, people that live elsewhere, but choose to support the team but, 1 in 5 at Cas,
compared to 1 in 30 at Leeds, so as a percentage of the popiulation it is fair to say that RL is more important to the people of Cas.
