| Nice quirky difference to the Video Ref on Premier Sports Live coverage of the Championship match tonight, Live audio of the video ref talking to the VT bods & making his decision, might be a nice touch for Super League to explain some of the more contentious decisions ?

| Nice. I like it. Although I can imagine just screaming at the tv more if I disagreed with the VR.

Out of curiosity, how's Ian Ramsdale doing?

Ok, seems pretty confident & fluent, especially with his half-time summarising with Brian Noble. Far better production quality than i was expecting, reckon it must be a connection with the Sky production company as camera angles seem crisp & plentiful albeit not as many cameras as a SL production.

Good stuff, thought he'd do well.
Gutted to miss his first broadcast, think I'll subscribe for next week.

| Bit of a farce at the end, clock goes past 80mins, no hooter, play carry's on with a scrumdown on 80mins 11secs with Leigh forming the scrum & ref stopping the clock, then talks to vid ref & blows for full time, Leigh forwards not happy !!!!

| On screen clock was out for most of the second half, the ref stopped the clock at a scrum early on, but the clock on the screen didn't. The on-screen clock isn't the official time its just an aide to the viewer.
Good production, liked the video ref comments and Brian Noble's a good summariser, Ian Ramsdale will get better at player identification - good way to spend a Thursday evening,

| Good programme, good game well worth watching - Noble was pretty good too.
The vid ref audio was really interesting to hear - good start. Thought it might be Micron videoesq but much better than than

| I thought the Premier Sports coverage was very good tonight.
I liked the half hour lead in. It was much more engaging than Sky's version. Nice variety, crisply produced and well presented. Dave Woods was good value too.
It was so, so refreshing not to have inane dribble in my ears during the match itself. I think the anchor guy's blushes were spared a bit with Nobby being there, who was very smooth in making sure the commentary ticked along. There was just the right amount of input I thought. I could sit back and enjoy the game. The only criticism I had was the anchors (both of them) not getting the players' names right but hopefully they will work on that for future matches and over time they will become more confident about the game itself.
The camera work was sound. Although not as many angles were available as at Sky matches they had enough to produce sufficient evidence for the video ref decisions (of which there were many).
I just loved listening in to the video ref. I learned a lot from hearing the step by step process of his decision making and I really couldn't see anything wrong in any of his decisions. I never thought I'd say that about Ian Smith either!
All in all, a good effort by Premier Sports which will only get better as the anchors get into their roles and everybody gets used to covering the sport. Great value for the subscription.

Appreciate that but why did the ref stop the clock as the scrum had been formed only then to blow for full time ??

| I really enjoyed the coverage of tonights game. I thought the video ref audio was great and wish we could have it in SL. It would help us to see the reasons why a try was given or not. Worth paying for with getting all the NRL coverage as well.

| Was at the game and they had an official clock counting down, when the ref called time off at the scrum the official clock showed 3 secs left but then it just went to zero and the game ended. Bit of a controversial finish but don't think the 3 secs would have saved us anyway

| I don't think we'd have done much with the 3 seconds either but would have been nice to have the chance! The stadium clock as mentioned is the same as the ones at the Super League games by the way and is presumably controlled by the timekeeper as, apart from the aforementioned incident at the end, it stopped whenever the referee signalled to do so.

Bluffed his way through the game to be honest, got a lot of players names wrong, even to the point of thinking bulldogs players were playing for Leigh...............obviously not well up enough to recognise the faces.
Seemed to go away from naming players further into the game, and reverted to comments such as "thats a good drive", or "the defence is strong"
However, its the first outing, he'll get up to speed i would hope, and, on the plus side, camera shots, and hearing the video ref were good points!!

| The commentary was a breath of fresh air. When they started the timing was a bit off and they kept forgetting names but by the end they were in sync and Brian Noble actually knows what he is talking about (unlike the Widnes fan club on Sky Sports). I agree the video referee audio was excellent, I actually understood the decisions, I am sure if I hadn't heard his logic I would be calling it the wrong decision.

| I only got to watch about 20 minutes of the second half but was very impressed (just wish it was in HD!!)
I thought Noble was very good in a co-commentator role, rather than just a summariser.
As others have said the VR audio was excellent and whoever thought of that should be congratulated; I hope Sky introduce this to add to there coverage. It would also stop a lot of arguments or disagreements n the commentary box!

| I enjoyed what I saw of it, pretty good productions values, Rammo has a lot of work to do on player identification.
Wonder if the VR is always so polite with the TV people?

Sadly I get the impression that Sky seem to think that people would prefer to listen to Eddie and Stevo's married couple act rather than having the decisions explained by the video ref.

Agreed.
A mix of the the Aussie commentators and the English Championship would be good. The Aussies stop talking when the ref is speaking to a player rather than talk over them to guess what's being said!

| I thought it was a far cry from watching Sky, in a good way though. Great to watch a RL game without the inane ramblings of Hemmings, Stephenson, Clarke et al. The VR audio was a nice touch aswell. They needed to sort out the refs mic though, sounded like he was speaking long distance on a payphone.

I thought the refs mic was fine, I agree it sounded different but the volume which it was transmitted at was better than Sky's. As I said earlier if it was in HD i really couldn't find any major fault with the coverage.
