Yeah the Raiders have been shyyte with their crowds for 15 years now since the SL war, hopefully this is the beginning of the Green machine getting back to what they were.

i remember crowds up to 20,000 at seffert oval then bruce.

they had a magic side though back then, but this side now isnt bad.

They'll get the crowds back soon enough, it's starting to happen now.

They really should be playing on Sunday afternoons though during the winter months.

If they have to have a Monday night game, give it to them near the start of the season when it's still pretty warm.

They've given us early season Monday games for a few years now.

Last time Canberra cracked 20k was a month ago vs. the Dragons. Got 19k for the same game last year. Largest crowd since the mid-90s was Round 25, 2006, vs. the Storm. It was the last home game ever for Schifcofske, Croker and Woolford. Drew over 21k.

Ticketed club members snapped up 11,500 tickets up to 9pm tonight. From then, Ticketek members could start buying and it's sounding like another couple thousand have been added to the tally. Tickets to the general public start selling 9am tomorrow. Surely we'll break 20k and maybe even sell-out.

As noted, the original Green Machine sides in the late 1980s-early 1990s absoultely electrified the place. Canberrans still regard this period and this team as what gave the city some much longed for "soul"...

EDIT: Scratch that. All standing room tickets are gone. The only tickets available now are by a package deal of General Admission ticket and 2011 Membership, which are going for about $250 for both Raiders and Tigers fans.

garry freeman said it a while back, the raiders season turned when they managed to keep duggan after looking like losing him

its a shame carney couldnt behave responsibly in canberra otherwise imagine him with campese but then maybe you couldnt have kept duggan.

the raiders will be the peoples favourite ala tigers 05 and parra 09.

That's a very tasty prospect. Very tasty indeed. I doubt I'd really be able to pick a team to support wholeheartedly (Queenslander, but an old one with a soft spot for the Raider in their Days of Might).

I've got no doubts that re-signing Dugan was a key catalyst for this run. Josh Miller also gives credit to Tonguey's impassioned speech before the Manly game (the first game of our run). But like last year, public pressure after a horrid run undoubtedly played a part too.

If we kept Carney, we absolutely would've lost Campo. He was on the outer while we tried chasing Barrett. Storm offered Campo a contract, but he held out until Barrett negotiations fell through. We probably would've lost Dugan as well. Carney needed a reality check and he would never have gotten it staying with us, so with that in mind, we are far better off with Campo and Dugan than him by himself. I hold no ill-feelings towards Carney, I have no feelings of regret that he's the reigning Dally M Player of the Year. I wish him all the best and look forward to seeing him in a NSW and Australian jersey, where I can cheer for him once again.

I'm excited, but I don't want to put the cart before the horse. There's a lot of hype around us now, and it'll disappear immediately if we lose to the Tigers this weekend.

Will be a cracking crowd at Canberra, might just get the Raiders over the line. Hopefully they can get some signed up for next year though until they get some shelter at that ground, or get agreement to play every game on an afternoon the Canberra weather will always be a deterent for many.
