| Can't say I'm the biggest fan of this.
The club are moving upto 3 games to The Shay in 2011 whilst the Galpharm pitch is relayed. It smacks to me that we are pandering to our stadium partners who already play more games on the pitch and during the time of year when it is more likely to be wrecked. With a poor travelling fanbase this is likely to cause our attendance to plummet or may even spur some non-travellers into sampling the delights of other SL stadia.
Does this actually help 'fax towards securing a SL franchise? They will be able to confidently argue (as will Widnes and Leigh because of Saints/Wigan and England games respectively) that their stadia are of a standard of a premier competition.

Current turf had a lifespan of 12 years and it's been down for 15. It needs doing when it can grow and bed in and unfortunately that means the summertime.
I don't like the idea any more than you do, but it's hardly RLs fault that grass grows better in the summer.

| What is the length of time that the pitch will not be playable ? Given that this is announced now is it possible for the RFL to schedual away fixtures for much of this for the Giants in order not to have to move for too many matches.
Whilst it will be good for Fax to show case their stadium I fear it will cost the Giants a bob or two.

| Strange decision. The KC stadium was relayed last year during the summer when FC had two away games on the trot. Was long enough for the pitch to be lifted, relaid and grow to be playable. Was around 21 days with two away games. Why couldn't the galpharm be the same?

Because grass on Humberside grows a hull of a lot faster?

| If this is what has to happen every 15 years so be it. It has to be done in the summer time, tough. We are not pandering to the football. We are just vivtim of circumstance. Rather than be negative about it look at the positives.
Halifax fans who dont travel to away games may come and watch us.
The atmosphere will be great if we get our normal crowd in what is a smaller ground.
And last but not least new watering holes to try.

I would presume that would be the best idea - did Wigan do that recently too?

| Wigan have had to do it a few times over the last few years, this year is probably the first one we've actually had a home game in some months.

| Exactly its a "might have to play UP TO three games at the Shay."
Its not like its a million miles away, half an hour on the bus.
And it might not even be a single game if the RFL give us away fixtures in that time.

The pitch was done immediately after the football season finished this year, so Wigan went from 23rd April to 6th June without a home game.
No reason why Huddersfield can't be allocated a raft of away fixtures during that period rather than having to play elsewhere, though there again there are only so many clubs who can avoid having home fixtures during the summer months.

| As a dedicated Wakefield Trinity fan, Id like Huddersfield to play at the Shay every time we face them- provided Trinity can still line up at the Galpharm. That way, we might only concede 30 points or so.
In the first half that is.
Oh dear.
Im sooo depressed.

Yep, only 12 years old and the 'new' concrete terrace has crumbling foundations and Calderdale's deep pockets have now been sewn up
After spending £5.39million they are struggling to pay for new guttering for the East stand
to be fair though, it does look a tidy little stadium, even if only half of it is open.

| This could be a good thing for Hudds.
It could improve their average figures for the season never a bad thing as they may get the odd Fax fan coming along.

Could even put some offers on - Half price to Halifax season ticket holders (making sure Fax don't have an away game that day) or something like that.
