Most clubs operate a bonus scheme based on sharing the prizemoney recieved depending on where you finish in the league. Perhaps fines based on this fund for all players in a squad where someone is found guilty of such a thing may help? Peer pressure is easily the best tool and deducting points isnt a goer as it hurts the fans.

They mentioned that during the Rugby Football Union sponsored 2 minute section on this four times a day on Five Live today. They went to their Northern correspondant (Why not the French correspondant?) for the clubs statement on it and spent a good while discussing the recent incidents in British Rugby League. One has to wonder how long it will be before there is a Panorama special on the sport's level of depravity if someone mentions the NRL to one of the news people writing todays bulletins.

It made me really mad that on a day when Paul Gazza Gascoigne, Ricardo Fuller AND Andy Carroll all had similar press releases about them, they chose to highlight the problem with Rugby League and single it out for a discussion.

bahhh, cop out, they are young blokes and like all young blokes in all walks of life, they like to like off some steam.

they are very well paid athletes who should be in bed recovering and considering what they need to do to not lose again, not out on the pish! If they want to "let off steam" go and be a brickie or a plumber.

More like they've had 4 months of slogging it out to keep fit and they played their game and lost, they decide to have a few beers and something we know nothing about yet has happened.

It has long been my rule of thumb that professional rugby players are simply the big daft lads you met at school who were useless at anything other than sport.

Over the many years that I have held this opinion I have seen nothing to disprove my "big daft lads" theory.

It's only a shock when when teams go out drinking after defeats, that trouble with their own supporters doesn't happen more often.
