Leigh replacing Hull kr has been blamed for the poor sales at this years magic weekend.

"I think there's a few reasons (for the dip). It's the third year of Newcastle and we no longer have Hull KR, who are now taking 2.500 fans to the Summer Bash. If they were coming here, they would have the third highest attendance." Super League executive director Roger Draper.

Personally I'm not going as Leeds are the last game on the Sunday night and I have work the next day. I think magic should be on a bank holiday weekend as I'm sure I'm not the only person in this position. If the stadium isn't available on the bank holiday, find another one that is and move elsewhere.

I will be attending just on the Sunday , with a trip to Catalans in 5 weeks a weekend in Newcastle is just too much I'm afraid

Actually we'd sold over 3000 tickets over a month ago, but it's unfair for anyone to blame Leigh or any club, for poor ticket sales though.

rovers hardly took any last year as they knew they we're on for a hiding. They're taking plenty to blackpool as they'll give the mediocre bulls a drubbing

We took plenty of fans thank you, and yes we lost but we certainly didn't get a hiding.

This is one of the reasons why many fans were disappointed to see lowly Leigh replace hopeful Hull KR in Super League. It is not fair to the reputation of our game to have a defective club roster.

I wouldn't blame Leigh on the lack of fans. I'd say the likes of Salford hit attendances more on events like this.......Their numbers are woeful.

Glad it's been noticed by the RFL mind.

But stuff the magic weekend this year, the summer bash will be fantastic.

You took the least you'd ever taken to a magic weekend. Certainly a lot less than you'll be taking to the guaranteed win against the bulls. Good to see that better numbers are following you away in the championship than did in SL but I guess that's what happens when you know you'll win rather than knowing you're going to lose

The fact is also it's not a bank holiday and families will struggle with kids being at school the day after
Our coaches will only get back to Leigh after twelve
Same for all the Lancashire and Yorkshire clubs
In Manchester it's easier to get home it a decent time
Hence why they should have had the bank holiday weekend

Leigh will take more fans to Newcastle than Catalans, Huddersfield, Salford, Wakefield & Widnes !

So from 12 SL Clubs, Leigh will be the 7th best supported Club, that despite being one of the smallest towns by population.

I suggest that if they take 200 we will be blessed, this for an 'established' SL Club given preferential support for 6 years to become established.

I'm sure the stadium would've been available next weekend. Difference this year is that we're having another weekend of two games with teams playing on Friday and then the Bank Holiday Monday next weekend to prevent the season lasting a week longer with the World Cup coming up afterwards. Obviously can only do a double weekend on a Bank Holiday Monday so Magic Weekend had to move. That sole reason I think is why numbers will be down especially the Sunday.

You are correct I will not be going to a Sunday night match that is 100 miles away.

I bet Saints barely sell any tickets either. The attitude of the players has never been right, they've rarely tried due to the perception that it's unfair and I'll bet our record there is terrible. I wouldn't go for that reason alone. They should make it a 9's event.
