Does anyone know when this is named, surely they will give two weeks notice?

Finding it very hard to pick three players per squad with the injuries teams have.

Add McMeekan from Cas, Percival, Roby and Walmsley from Saints, McGilvery from Hudds (maybe Johnstone from Wakey instead). Farrell from Wigan. I'd also have Savelio from Warrington in the squad.

Added mine to yours but i'm struggling beyond that. Is it up to three from each squad or must be three from each squad as that would mean a huge squad of players going out for just one game of rugby and a lot of those players would just be fillers with no real chance of ever getting an England cap or look in at that level.

Add to that, the Burgess twins need a kick up the Backside... i would not be including them in the international squad until they get their acts together for Souths.

If they take three of ours at the minute I'll probably get a game!

If the injury situation eases over the coming weeks I'd expect Williams and Farrell to be shoe ins on this seasons form.

Williams should be nailed on to play alongside Gale .

I don't really know why but I have never really rated Farrell, I cant quite explain why, I don't think he is a bad player but I just don't think he is international standard.

I'm surprised no one as mentioned Daz Clark at Warrington getting a chance either.

I think we go as strong as we can. It's a world cup year not a building year. And to be honest there's not that many shirts up for grabs.

FB will be hardaker unless Tomkins gets back and has a great end of year.

Wings Hall and McGilveray own those shirts unless someone demands one off them

Watkins owns his and is looking dangerous at the moment. Sarginson probably has the other unless someone bolts

Halfback will be 2 of Gale, Widdop and Williams baring injury maybe space for someone to impress and get a back up role.

Props Graham, Burgii, Hill, Taylor, personally I think Walmsley will struggle with the speed against the top international sides but would be really useful against some of the lesser lights. Possibly space for 1 or 2

Hooker we will probably go with Roby, Houghton and Hodgson, I don't think there is anyone breaking those three unless Clarke has a great rest of year and looks the better impact option

Back row might be some space. Sam Burgess, is a given probably Whitehead and maybe Farrell too. But the rest are really up for grabs. Weatherman doesn't have a great deal of international experience and wire are struggling. O'loughlin can't get on the field and when he does he can't get a long run of games. Starts to look like a risk going in to a world cup. I have high hopes for Savelio and Ward but Savelios start to life at wire hasn't been all that impressive and Ward needs games.

I don't think Gale and Williams is the sure fire HB combination. Widdop is in great form for St George. Percival should be nailed on for left centre, although I don't think he's physical enough yet to become more average at international level. Same goes for Johnstone.

The 2nd row is our weakness at the moment. On form, I'd pick McMeekan and Ablett.

If we are really talking of picking "on form" then we have to consider a space for Garth Hock

Are there no other options at centre? It frustrates me how Watkins never performs at international level but keeps the shirt year after year.

He's always been solid enough, if unspectacular. He certainly outperformed Percival last year, but you'd expect that given the difference in experience

Sadly not imo. As Charlie says, He has been solid enough just not the game breaker we maybe hoped he may become on that stage as of yet at least.

Only position for me which is up in the air is Centre. We've just got no quality there. As a Wigan & International fan I'm hoping Gildart makes a full recovery from his injury as he was putting down a huge marker at the start of the season to be thought of for international honours.

Shenton? Gildart (if fit)? I'd prefer either of those to Sarginson, and Watkins is a flat track bully who looked good against our kids last week, but has shown nothing at international level.

Watkins has just under a try every other game at international level. 9 in 19.

I'd certainly be keeping Watkins in. Other centre is there for the taking; I'd personally like to see Percival get another crack.

Lot more potential occupants for wing spots over the next few years, Eden having a storming season, Joe Burgess, Manfredi was awesome last year before getting injured. Ethan Ryan at Bradford is showing a lot of promise, he could come into the reckoning years down the line when he inevitably moves to a SL club.

v Australia and New Zealand he has scored 2 tries in 9 games, hardly prolific when it counts.

We won 2 of those 9 games and scored over 20 points as a team once.

I'm not saying it's totally his fault, but you can't justify selecting him on the basis of him being a regular try scorer when he only really tends to score against inferior teams. There is only really Ryan Hall who gets in as a regular try scorer (10 from 12 v Australia/New Zealand) regardless of whether we win, lose or score many points, he almost always gets over the line at some point.

I'm really not trying to defend Watkins, he frustrates me as much as anybody, but imo he is still slightly ahead of any other centre we currently have. If he is playing well come October, which he is now to be fair, he should be in the team. The only other viable options we have in that position to play centre are Sarginson, Percivill and perhaps Shenton. Bottom line is, we just don't produce anywhere near the quality in that position that Australia and NZ can.

I'm biased, but I do think Ratchford's best position could be centre, alongside Pervical would be quite the nimble centres.

Watkins is one of the few centres we have who comes close to the Aussie or kiwi centres physically. All the talk of the likes of Gildart and Percival being better at this stage is madness. It'd be men against boys.
