| I'm biased but I really like the Hull squad. Plenty of depth, good blend of youth and experience. The pack in particular looks very strong.
With a top coach in charge I would be confident of a top 4 finish, but I still have serious doubts about Radford. Should be safely in the 8 though.

In comings we are looking at Adam OBrien, Bradford hooker.

Not many, seen as we've been crap for 7/8 seasons. Next season is the best squad we've assembled for some time, so it's expected that we'd be optimistic of a better finish than 2015. But, I reckon you're just trolling anyway. Scraping 8th would be better than scraping through in the ÂŁ1m game.

I'm not making any bold claims. I think we'll probably finish 6th, behind the usual suspects with Cas and Catalans rounding out the 8. Last year I said 7th, and thats where we finished.
I'm saying that I think it's a talented group of playes but will be let down by poor coaching and the off field set up in general. If that was the Leeds squad I think it would be challenging for trophies.

| Plenty of talent in Hull's squad but I have a lot of question marks hanging over certain areas. Not sure a spine of Shaul, Pryce and Sneyd is good enough to challenge for honours. The outside backs are mainly unproven as well. Certainly a good pack though, but a few too many of the big names are the wrong side of 30. Will be interesting to see how they go.

I assume your counting English players as overseas in that 13? Because to my count they have 8 non fed players, the 7 they're allowed and Richards whose exempt because of his time at Wigan. Same as Hull, who have Feka exempt and 7.
They're rumoured to be looking to offload Tonga and Sigismeau (the latter of which is linked with Saints) and Mason in - I'd say that'd all tie together.

Yes English players included.
Tonga
Pomeroy
Carney
Anderson
Taylor
Aiton
Myler
Richards
Broughton
Stewart
Horo
Inu
Mason
Heard Pomeroy might be going. But still leaves little room for French opportunities.

English players arent overseas players to a French club?
I said originally should Mason sign it would be 13. Im not aware of the contractual or first team status of the other players you refer to but happy to be corrected. The point would remain the same if you remove two or three- not enough opportunities for French players to progress to the first team of the sole French SL club.

No. Just as French players aren't overseas for English clubs. Saints have Nzongou and Fages, for example.
Currently, they have Inu, Carney, Tonga, Taylor, Aiton, Horo, Stewart are [icurrently[/i their overseas players. They also have Richards whose exempt due to his time at Wigan.
If they sign Mason, presumedly Tonga goes.

Catalans are a Super League club trying to win the competition, not some novelty development team for French players. They have no more obligation to provide opportunities for French players than Warrington, for example, have to provide opportunities for Warrington-born players.
Catalans' junior set-up is better than probably any British team currently, possibly apart from Wigan and St Helens. They produce a huge number of players and it's sad when people complain about them having the same number of overseas players as other clubs. This isn't Paris St-Germain and people need to get over it. Also remember that this is a top 8 system with relegation, no teams are going to fill their squads with junior players and not sign anybody else.

Fair enough- your saying that the English boys arent 'overseas' in relation to the quota. I was referring to 'overseas' by its definition. So going by your list and adding Myler and Broughton- that leaves just 7 spots open for French players.

Add in Naughton and Ellis on top of the 8 non fed players hull fc have and there's only 7 spots available for local Hull lads?
Far more French lads are being picked up by other SL clubs and the NRL which was almost nonexistent 15 years ago!

| Some poor excuses going round here as to why it's ok that Catalans may run with as many as 13 'non French' players next year.
Whichever way it's dressed up that's appalling and surely isn't what the club is in superleague for?! I have no issue with them having 5 or 6 non French players but 13 is taking the Mick and is going to stifle the development of the French lads, there's no two ways about it.
Poor form.

Please read whats been written. There is no chance they will be running with 13 non french players. Even accepting MadDoggs English is foreign logic, theyre on 10 for next year.
Wigan had 9 "foreign to Wigan" players in their squad this year - is that also appalling?
Catalans are in SL to compete, nothing more.

A huge part of the rationale behind introducing a French club to the competition right from the outset (and the reintroduction of one after the disaster that was Paris, not to mention the calls for a second one based in Toulouse) was that it would improve the French player pool and enable them to be more competitive on an international level, rather than playing in their part-time domestic competition.
Otherwise, why are the Dragons in SL and not playing in Le Championnat?
Are we now accepting that has failed, and their presence is basically to provide fans with a jolly weekend away once or twice a year?

Thats a fair summary. This is a big season for Shaul. With Rankin gone full back is his. We know he's good under a high ball and an excellent broken field runner, but he needs to add a couple more strings to his bow now. Likewise Sneyd. He was ok last season, but he needs to find consistency.
In the backs, Logan is still learning, and Carlos/Fonua could be inspired signings or could flop, but they all have ability.
As for the guys over 30, I'm not that worried. Pryce, Ellis, Pritchard and Mini are imo the only key players that fall into this category. Ellis has question marks over him given his injury, Pryce could be a concern but will be ably covered by Abdull. I'm not worried about the others.
