Is anyone else slightly worried about Martin Gleeson?
After all the personal problems of last year and now the drugs ban to effectively end his career, I'm worried it may have the potential to become a bit "Terry Newton".

I hope the RFL keep an eye on him and offer him support. I'm guessing that's what "State of Mind" was set up for.

Maybe, but then there are many who will lose their jobs over the next 12 months with no job prospects through no fault of their own. Gleeson has left Saints, wire, Wigan and now hull in a dodgy circumstance so clearly wouldn't listen/learn from any help/advice offered.

Although he has treated a number of clubs badly i hope he gets the support he needs from the point of view of keeping on track from a personal point of view

A lot of the things you can buy over the counter have banned substances in them. Inhalers and suchlike have steroids.

Apologies if this is already common knowledge, but how do the Chief Exec and conditioner get implicated in a player failing a drugs test and pick up sizeable bans themselves?

Conditioner supplied the tablets.

Did he actually have any personal problems or was this an excuse to cover up something else going on?

There's definitely been a "cover up" over the last 6 months. But Gleeson's personal issues have pre-dated his release from Wigan.

Ah here we go, I wondered when the conspiracy theorists would start boo-hooing. These bans are serious, and I'm almost certain will be for much more than a diet pill.

The RFL don't just hand out long bans because they don't like Hull FC. They obviously have a lot of evidence against them, so don't get your back up.

Banning a player who's career was effectively over anyway, is this more a warning for clubs or players I wonder.

Wasted talent, let the RFL learn the lessons and try to ensure the youngsters coming through don't follow the same path.

There are always different circumstances and until the full details are out it is all speculation. Cunningham had mitigating circumstances in his case and that case was 8 years ago, precedents will have been set and new rules to drugs enforced in that time. To try and compare the two is ridiculous.

A sad end to Gleesons career and IF he was aware of what he was allegedly taking then he has only himself to blame.

Yet again another Wigan born player brings the game into disrepute having failed a drugs test. This is a worrying trend and hopefully it's the last.

At the same time, hope the guy is given / has been given assistance from the RFL to try and overcome his problems and to adjust to life away from the game.
