| I touched this topic in another thread and it has made me wonder where certain rounds should be played in the World Cup in 2013, here is my opinion:
Final - Old Trafford/Wembley
Semi's - Etihad/Old Trafford and Millenium
Quarters - Elland Road, KC, DW and Galpharm
Groups - Halliwell Jones, KC, DW, Galpharm, Headingley, Leigh, Langtree, Salford, The Stoop, The Shay, Keepmoat, Wrexham, Stobart
Other Options - Reebok, Emirates Stadium, Bristol
These would be my choices.

| I think the MS3 Craven Park will hold a game, possibly a group game with PNG with the link to Gene. I know others will disagree

I wouldn't disagree with that. It was a collaborative Hull bid as well, so if Hull get a game you'd expect Rovers to get a game as well.

| These are the stadiums which have made a bid to host games.
Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, England
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales
Spotland Stadium, Rochdale, England
KC Stadium and Craven Park Hull, England
Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, England
DW Stadium, Wigan, England
Leigh Sports Village, Leigh, England
Elland Road and Headingley Stadium Leeds, England
Ashton Gate Stadium and Memorial Stadium Bristol, England
Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, England
City of Salford Stadium, Salford, England
Thomond Park, Limerick, Ireland
Parc des Sports, Avignon, France
Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, Wales
Odsal Stadium, Bradford, England
Langtree Park, St Helens, England
I just hope the RFL use some common sense and put games in sensible places.
Wales games in Wales.
Fiji games in Rochdale. (large fijian community in Rochdale)
Aus and NZ games not involving England being played in London.
France games in France. (I know England are meant to be the hosts but the crowds would be brilliant in south France)
Ireland games in Ireland. (see above, and Irish venue has applied, we would be daft to turn it down)
Double-headers to cut stadium costs and increase crowds.
Open the tournament at Old Trafford/Wembley and the have the final at whichever stadium missed out on the opener. Obviously the opener should be England v Aus.
Semi-finals at Elland Road and Eastlands. Lets hope one SF is Aus v NZ and the other is England v Wales.
Bristol have invested alot into hosting some games so I say give them some good fixtures.
DO NOT make stupid decisions like some of these 2000WC fixtures...
Aus v Fiji in Gateshead??? Just no. It got a crowd of 4,000.
NZ v Lebanon in Gloucester??? NO. 2,000 in attendance.
NZ v Cook Islands at.. wait for it... the Madejski Stadium, Reading.... 3,000 attended.
QF - Aus v Samoa at Watford??? Really??? 5,000 people
QF - NZ v France at The Jungle... please don't use such poor stadiums in this WC, especially for big games. 5,000.

| My point would be that it will hopefully be part of a successful joint hull bid and with the links to PNG it would be able host one of there games at the stadium. For example PNG v Samoa in Group B. I think it would be very well attended and have a great atmosphere to go with it. Like Rochdale hosting a Fiji game for the same kind of reasons.

| Would the links not be better used at the bigger ground? Getting all the people from Hull behind it and aiming for 20k?
Or shall we go into the wc thinking small?

Two games in Kingston Upon Hull both with decent crowds doesn't smack of 'thinking small '
The idea of utilising Stanley Gene as an ambassador of some kind to get people watching PNG at MS3 Craven Park seems perfectly reasonable.
In fact why not have an ambassador for each venue ? A 'name' who can tap into the locals with a view to increasing attendances ? Maybe notable league fans like Joey Barton , Mark Weber, Graeme Swann etc. could be recruited...

| Well if you only want a capacity of 11,000 for a international in a city that has just got 23,000 then yes it is small thinking.
How can we sell the game when we won't even buy it our self.

| Looking at the 2008 Wold Cup games not including the big three teams struggled to get over 10k. The only game that actually did that was Samoa v Tonga which got 11k. So it would seem a game at Craven Park would be reasonable to get a 10k attendance and call it a success.
I like the idea of an ambassador for different grounds. I guess we will know more when the stadiums are announced

It isnt small thinking though it is been realistic looking at past world cups. Last world cup Tonga v Scotland for just under 6k. I would much rather have that in a smaller stadium (keepmoat, Spotland, Craven Park) than have it played at the larger one with only one stand open, and then use the larger stadiums for the bigger games.

| Or you could sell double tickets at a cheaper rate and get big crowds for both.
Will craven park be fully sheltered for 2013? Will the south stand be acceptable for a international?

| It is possible that the current north stand will be moved to the south stand and have a new north stand by the time of the world cup. Maybe if they got accepted to host a game it would push them to actually build it and stop putting it back. I don't think it matters if its fully sheltered or not. Headingley and Odsal have both applied so it isn't in the criteria.
The boulevard and Barrows Craven Park both hosted a game in the 2000 world cup and they are worse than the MS3 Craven Park

| Did we ever get to the bottom of why Australia and England weren't allowed to train at Elland Road pre-final? If it really was the groundsmans call then I'd definately tell Elland Road that, in doing so, they've removed themselves from the candidates list.

So the Boulevard in 2000 is worse than Craven Park in 2011. Not really a fair comparison, with 11 years worth of renovation improvements.
Also - there wasnt the quality of stadia around then to compare the years fairly.
I honestly dont think CP will get a game

It wasnt a fair comparison I agree. I was just meaning that the last time we hosted the World Cup it wasn't all big and modern stadiums. I could have mentioned a lot of other grounds.
I think CP only chance of getting one is the link with PNG and the same with Rochdale and Fiji. But a sold out CP would any one complain about it?
