Wilkin crying to the press straight after a GF that sounds familiar. He might have a point about Bailey but that is childish also.

Someone should have a word with Wilkin and explain there is a way to behave in defeat as well. Sadly he has form for this kind of thing and he has really let himself down.

Oh dear, another post-Grand Final whinge from Wilkin. He should take a leaf out of his team captains books. Both Graham and Wellens showed dignity in defeat, comforting obviously devastated young players and acknowledging their opposition. I only saw Bailey whooping and celebrating with other Leeds players and towards the Leeds fans. Bailey is obviously a pillock so can't rule out him doing something a bit silly but unfortunately, since it's Wilkin who's come out with these comments, it does just read like a bit of a bitterness after another loss to Leeds. If it had come from someone like Wellens or Roby I'd pay more attention to it.

What he says rings true, but his timing is ill-advised.

As usual he does his talking through the press instead of having a go on the field.

He's correct that Bailey is a tool but it takes one to know one.

After the Warrington v Leeds game Bailey ran over to the Warrington fans goading and whooping and after a few second Jamie Jones-Buchanan came and dragged him away. The guy is obviously a bit of a tool, as this was completely out of sync with what had been a tough fair game between two sets of players and fans that clearly had a lot of respect for each other.

Having said that, Wilkin doesn't need to make the comment, and the timing has let him down. The four nations squad dynamic might be interesting if Bailey gets in there.

He's right. Leeds weren't happy with Bailey's behaviour. You could see Sinfield and Lowes (?) have a proper go at him. He was a spoon in the semi final as well. It was just so out of context, there had been no bad blood or reaction from Saints to the loss, yet he still feels the need to goad teenage players and celebrate at players. Just completely lacking in class. A complete contrast to the likes of Sinfield and Peacock.

Wilkin's moan would have been better before the game as it would have spiced things up a bit on the night. Now he just looks like a whinging, bad-losing, ex-Rovers, sour-graped, cry baby.

Wow, folk having their own little whinge about Wilkin here. So, do we know how this story was found? Did Wilkin burst into the press conference suite, still in his kit, all guns blazing, shouting his angry vitriol at anyone who looked vaguely like or journo? Or, was someone having a quiet chat with him, when he was clearly still upset, over a pint in the player's lounge after the match and that person was either a journo fishing for dirt or someone willing to pass the info onto a journo?

It's because it's Wilkin's 3rd post-grand final whinge to the media.
In 2008 we had him complaining about Leeds "whooping" as they go into tackles and I believe he said something along the lines of the Leeds pack being cowardly. And of course a moan about cameras in the dressing rooms, despite the fact they had been in the dressing rooms for years without complaint from Wilkin.
In 2009 it was about the pitch being watered and that Leeds can only win when it rains.
And now this. If it had come from virtually anyone else in the Saints camp I'd believe it and have sympathy with it. As it's Wilkin it just comes across as yet another whinge after a grand final loss to Leeds.

Interesting how they'll get along together in the England squad.

As passionate an English RL fan as I am, if Wilkin and Bailey were involved in a bit of biff against the old enemy, I’m not sure who I would be rooting for!

This is the "Sun", not well known as a paragon of truth telling and fairness in their reporting. Doubt if Wilkins really said these things in the way they've been portrayed. Peacock, McGuire, Sinfield and Buderus were exemplary in the way they consoled Makinson after the game. It's a pity they can't get this across to Bailey because he's beginning to look a bit less of a pr*ck with no abilty to a pr*ck with ability.
