I notice we have had quite a few drawn games this season.

It's definately time to bring in golden point.

Works well in the NRL and it would work well in Superleague.


I can understand people saying that one point is better than no points but with the way some of the results are going this season (who on earth would have predicted Hull to beat Warrington) it means every point is vital and if a side get a chance to win rather than draw by bringing in golden point extra time then I'm all for it.

I can't really see any negatives about this idea and I'm astonished it hasn't been introduced already.

Golden point extra time is exciting to watch. You get more RL for your money. Gives your team chance to get 2 competition points instead of just 1.

And despite it being called "Golden Point" it doesn't have to be a field goal that wins it. It is great to see the attacking team work their way up the field to look like they are setting up for a field goal only for them to put a nice set play in and send someone over for a try instead.

4 drawn games out of 78 is hardly a travesty is it. Daft post, a draw is part of our game.

Another draw elsewhere (28-2icon_cool.gif, I think both sets of fans are happy with that at the end of the day. You don't need a winner or a loser in a league match.

I just think a draw is a point wasted for one of the teams.


You should ALWAYS have a winning team in any competition.


Look at the penalty shootouts they have in football. It's the best bit.

So why bother with the game at all, surely it would be more efficient to just go to the penalty shootout?

there was a 32-32 game in Championship one as well today. Not sure how many times we have had 3 draws on the same day.

Not a proponent of golden point for league games - a draw is the result you got and you stick with, otherwise it can all end up being a bit of a gimmick.

I don't look upon it as a 'gimmick' at all.

The best team on the day wins.

At least someone seems to agree with me. Which is a good thing. I was beginning to lose faith there for a minute.

Because it sends out the message that winning is not important. Why bother trying for the win in the last few mins when a draw will do.

Not really, all this catching and biting stuff is smoke and mirrors for true idiocy most of the time.

It already is Phippsy lad. All playoff & Challenge Cup games (except the Challenge Cup Final) is subject to a golden point decider if the game is drawn after 80 mins.

It's fine as it is and doesn't need expanding.

Not a case of it "should". It already IS.

When there HAS to be a winner, you should use golden point.
In the league, there doesn't have to be a winner.

In a league competition, keep draws. It's not fair if one team gets the win in what would be like Fergie time if it were introduced to a league game. If both teams are evenly contested at the end of 80 minutes, it's a point each. I think that's pretty fair.
