I had to do a double take on my way home from work when I saw it from Barton Bridge. Saints still doesn't look like they're anywhere near starting.

Yes i know, great news for the club and the sport. A highly visible rugby league stadium is crucial for us. After all the many years of talk and false dawns we are on the way!!!

Wasnt sure on Saints, but does appear they arent anywhere near building stage and may struggle to be in it for SL 2012. That will make the whole Widnes/ saints relationship interesting.

When LSV was built, as soon as they started the steelworks it really shot up, hopefully Salfords will do this too. Also hope Saints and Cas can get a wriggle on too.

Saints have a step by step plan and said they are still on target to finish in by October/November.

Yes definately need Saints and Cas to get going on this. Now idea where Cas are upto, but dont think Saints will be ready by Oct / Nov

Hope im wrong as the site there is great, but Reds are down to be in the new place by end of the year too and we have visible structures. Would be great to see the Saints stadium coming out of the ground now!

Saints seem fine and no noises from their camp about staying in Widnes past this season. If as said this is final stage they won't be far off as all ground seems clear etc etc.

When the webcam was up it looked like they were piling to me TBH.

Yeah it has gone quiet, but just got to presume they got their heads down and are cracking on. Looking at recent snap shots there is tons of activity - as there was at Salford - only presume they are a matter of weeks/ months behind the Reds in the process and we will see stuff shortly

If Saints ground isn't ready I reckon they would either rearrange fixtures until it is ready and play a lot of early games away, or play a few home games at the LSV.

Updates on www.the-new-sthelens-stadium.co.uk/ from the construction company Barr, they seem confident it's on track. If it's not ready for October i'm sure an extra 3 months will be enough to be ready for the start of SL.

Excellent news for salford, bit strange though that the first thing they put up if the scaffolding for the Sky Tv 'Big Screen'

Taking into account clubs that have done/are doing stuff how does that leave clubs in direct comparison to each other?
These are all what I gather to be the situation appologies if any of it is incorrect.

Bradford - £15M funding shelved (I dont think this full amount was for the OSV), Im not sure how badly this effects their plans.
Cas - Waiting for full PP.
Catalans - New stand going up so that should leave them in good shape.
Crusaders - Nice tidy little ground.
Harlequins - Nice tidy little ground.
Huddersfield - Galpharm stadium.
Hull FC - KC stadium.
Hull KR - East stand started so that will make it full length, North stand awaiting final decision on funding, No firm plans for the South stand as of yet.
Leeds - New end stand is superb, Plans to replace both side stands in the future, Open terrace can't have a roof added due to light issue with the local houses (I belive this was the reason).
St Helens - New ground already started earmarked for season 2012.
Salford - New ground already started earmarked for season 2012.
Wakey - Waiting on the SoS to make his mind up to give them OP.
Warrington - HJ stadium.
Widnes - Stobart stadium.
Wigan - DW stadium.

P.S I've included Widnes beacuse it would take a brave man to bet on anyone else but them getting the green light in 2012

By my reconing that makes 9 grounds that are going to be all undercover by 2012 those being Crusaders, Harlequins, Huddersfield, Hull FC, St Helens, Salford, Warrington, Widnes and Wigan.

Whilst it would be fantastic if they extended due to demand they only had two sell out crowds last season with the remaining games well short of capacity. So I doubt it will be any time soon yet.

All teams who don't cover the away stands for the fans should be kicked out of the league.

The thing is many fans wont bother if they cant get a South stand ticket because the seating is frankly farrr too expensive and no one wants to stand with the away fans. Warrington need an extension imho as with the smaller capacity we're much more expensive than say Wigan and I know for a fact many are staying at home over the past couple of years due to money shortages in the current climate. It wont always be like that
