I hope they make it.
Seriously!!!
It's not impossible with the right people and a lot of hard hard work.
If they do succeed then I will be at the front of the queue applauding but that's all.
I however will not be taking part in achieving said goal.

| Its just the usual soundbite when a new regime takes over.
I remember the new owners of Blackpool saying theyd be in superleague within 5 years guaranteed.
WOuld be cool to see someone like Keighley in SL, but I just cant see it myself.

| Must confess I have never heard of Keighley.
But on googling it I think it looks like the sort of place thats better suited to a super league club than places like Wales or London.
The RFL should concentrate on making the game of Rugby League more popular in the areas where its likely to be sustained.
Expansion clubs don't work.
Sad but true.
Yes you can quote Catalans Dragons as an example but their location isn't ideal for a competition thats more or less exclusively situated in the North of England.

Why?
It's correct.
It's fair to say the game isn't a rip snorting success in London....and they have had a London based entity since 1980.
The game didn't catch on in South Wales.
The French are only into it because for years they were told they couldn't play it.
I sympathise with the RFL's 'expand or die' attitude... but its not working. It wont work. And until the game gets stronger in the places where it matters then its not worth trying to expand it.
Here endeth the lesson

| Good stuff! The only way the franchise system will work is by having a number of teams competing to get in, that way clubs will know they have to up there game!

| There are smaller towns and equally bad stadia in Super League. But think they have a lot of building to do first.

| But the 'focus on the heartlands' policy didn't work for 100 and odd years when we were the only professional rugby code, so why would it work now? We'll never get enough people interested in those areas because of the dominance of football. No one plays league in England unless their Dad, brother or best friend does. I grew up in Warrington, supposidly slap bang in the heartlands it never crossed my mind to go and play the game and I never played it for school either, a few lessons with Ms Bowman (hmmmmm) and her squeeze Billy McGinty were all we ever got.

| The club is a fair way of superleague, but they are a decent lub, with a good set of fans. Good to have a bit of ambition. And any town without a decent football team always has a chance of building a strong rugby league following

Yes!!!
But that is far as my answer goes!!!
And my initial post seems to have confused ONE or TWO
In what way is it NEGATIVE or BAGGING
I really hope the club do succeed, but after 50 years of following the club (in so many different guises) there comes a point and mine has been reached so I no longer get involved

| And if we had gone into SL and been getting sub 4K crowds and scrapping along at the bottom I would have had to agree!
We was always a sleeping Giant with a good pedigree, we just needed the right people at the top to wake us from our slumber.

| It's a nearly impossible ask for us to be honest.
We'd need to get all the gloryhunters back from the Cougarmania era who are now supporting Leeds, Br*dford and Huddersfield. Back in the mid 90's we were averaging 4000+ per game and turning over top flight teams in the Challenge Cup. No club in the championship gets near that attendance nowadays.
We'd need to spend a fortune on the ground, but hopefully keep it's character.
Even if we managed all that and met all the other criteria it's not guaranteed, there's always the chance an expansion club will get preferential treatment and the RFL screw us like they have done in the past.

If we only ever did things that were 'ideal' we'd never start anything! In time France may have it's own top-level comp, meanwhile, if you're ever lucky enough to go to Perpignan you'll find lots of French people with a long history and knowledge of Rugby League, so they could even be decribed as a 'non-expansion area' team.

Expansion Clubs = Quins : Failure, Le Cats : roaring success, Crusaders :Jury still out but very encouraging start including the best live Sky audience in 2 years, Gateshead : Potential there crowds no better or worse than many established clubs, London Skolars perennial under achievers, and South Wales Scorpions :looking great so far! Hardly mass failure?

Hull is far bigger than Keighley. East Yorkshire has a population of about 500k, with only FC, Rovers and Hull City as professional sports teams. Everyone in Hull knew that Hull could have 2 SL clubs..it was just the outsiders who were dismissive of Rovers.
