| There doesn't seem to be any real neccessity for this, and it is clearly detrimental to the development of the international game.
Needs changing.

| No it doesnt, Its about where you come from either NSW or Queensland, which pretty much means your an Aussie so you then shouldnt be off putting a Tonga jersey on. Using the lower nations to just to get a taste of the World Cup and then abandoning them after wards and not wanting to play in the little games is whats detrimental to the development of the international game.

Mcmanus is from Scotland and started playing RL in Darwin, so how the hell is he "from" NSW?
It's absolutely scandalous that such a player should have to choose between Origin and representing Scotland.

| McManus was born in Scotland but moved to Aus and has played all his junior rugby over there.
Look at Folau he was born in NSW and grew up playing in the same team as Jarryd Hayne but because he moved to Brisbane and played alot of junior footy there then he qualified for Queensland, Greg Inglis is from NSW.
The whole thing is a joke if you ask me, you should play for the team where your born and that's it not where your parents or gran parents are from or where you moved to when you was young and all that crap.
Karmichael Hunt was born in NZ yet he plays for Queensland and Australia, Brent Webb and Nathan Fein where born in Aus yet play for NZ

Well Michael Robertson from Manly played for Scotland in the world cup but he could still play for NSW if he ever got selected.

| yes...
the only problem i have with the eligibilty laws is the ability for players to switch nations after already playing for 1
your kid born in britiain to australian parents who then moves back to australia is a lucky boy,not only has he the right to dual nationality,he can chose to play for either england or australia..it's making sure he sticks with whoever he picks is the issue..

| Origin has and always will be for players who declare their Allegiance to Australia.
That is why SBW never played, that is why Stacey Jones was never selected.
That is why Gareth Ellis will never play in SOO either.
Orgin football will be runied as a feature event if we allowed other nations to play for NSW or QLD.
The international rules that allow players to play for a development nation and then play for either Australia or NZ are the biggest losers.
The NZ team is really a Pacific Island team full of Samoan's, Cook Islanders and Tongans.
International rugby league is the joke.

| Mcmanus was born and originally brought up in Scotland. His teen years were spent in Darwin.
And you guys see nothing wrong with him turning Scotland down in order to play for NSW?
International rugby league is not a joke. Origin is a joke.
McManus in no way originated from NSW. It's marketing nonsense.

mcmanus is an immigrant to this country, who has a choice between representing scotland or australia, he has obviously chosen australia as he has every right to. he has made his decision, as long as he sticks to it there is no problem.
as for him representing nsw, yes it is a bit of a joke, but there are limited options. this will be an even bigger issue when victorian raised players start making it into the nrl. what happens when the next israel folau is a storm junior and has never played in another state? victoria v western australia origin should be played before nsw v qld.

| WA V Vic would be an interesting game.
WA would be made up of 3-4 NRL players (Patterson, Te Marri, Holdsworth) + another 3 or 4 NRL reserve/under 20's plus best of our Reds
Vic would be ?1 NRl player + The Storm's Vic Toyota Cup players (?5) plus the best of the VRL.
i think we would probably win but would be an interesting contest.

| "[iUnder State of Origin eligibility rules, it is where the player began his first senior football when aged 16, which determines their origin status.[/i
The whole concept is marketed as QLD V NSW, it would be worthless if it was QLD with a few Samoans V NSW with a few Kiwis.
Just because it has been a fantastic concept that sells well and every player would love to experience why should it be changed to allow other nations?
Let the Kiwis have their own game North Island V South.
Every bugger wants to jump on the band wagon.
